Comparison shop online so you know how much the appliance is worth for the features you need. Find it online & then check your local places for stock & discounts. There are also independent appliance stores in most towns. Lowe's is where we usually start appliance shopping but have got good deals at Sears & HH Gregg before they closed. Wait for model closeouts if you can or look for an older model of the one(s) you have in mind. We had our eye on a $3,500 refrigerator but waited for a sale. It popped up on a Black Friday sale for $1,700 & we were knocking on the door to sign the papers. (hh hregg) Had a similar deal with a microwave that we were ogling. The salesperson told us it would be on clearance the following week so we came back & got it for half price. (Lowe's) We got a scratched dishwasher for half price at a local independent appliance store.
