If you're just looking for a good movie experience, grab this over the Criterion version and definitely over the 25h anniversary edition. There's not enough PQ/SQ difference for $20.

But, if you want the absolutely best PQ and love to watch special features, the Criterion version can' be topped. There's nearly an hour of deleted scenes, among other bonuses.

According to Criterion Forum the CC version is using the 30th Anniversary version, with the only difference being added supplements.

Ah okay. I was going off the blu-ray.com reviews where the 30th got a 4.5/5 and the CC got a 5/5. Probably just a difference of opinion of reviewers.

Probably. This version was pulled from a re-mastered true 4K scan - so, they could have released the 30th A.E. in 4K but chose not to. My guess is that we'll see it for the 35th anniversary in 2020 and for way more than it's worth.

And if tradition holds, Barnes and Noble's twice a year 50% Criterions will be starting in the next week or two. Plus if you are a member, an additional 10% will come your way.

They used to also stack the 15-20% coupons they would email members as well, but that has not happened for me anymore so YMMV.
