Need a little help, deciding to build a computer or upgrade the one I have and possible sell it for more too build a new computer Smilie or keep it . So here is the vital info below and lmk what you think. THANKS!

KEY POINTS
Dont game that much but for warface and ROE (pubG knock off, pubG wont work on this PC)
Dont do video editing
Mostly just game/surf/music and you-tube/watch movies.
no streaming

I have the following:
-- GIGABYTE GA-X58-USB3 LGA 1366 Intel X58 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
-- LG E2350V-SN Glossy Black 23" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD monitor Slim Design
-- 3 x GeIL Value PLUS 4GB (12gb total) (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
-- CORSAIR HX Series HX850 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular ... (MAY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THIS, NOT SURE)
-- Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield Quad-Core 3.06 GHz LGA 1366 130W BX80601950 Processor
-- Asus STRIX GTX 960 4GB DDR5 OC Edition
-- 1TB 7200 240GB ssd

wanted to add the following: IN ORDER TO BEEF IT UP AND USE OR SELL IT FOR MORE IF EVEN POSSIBLE/WORTH IT.

-- ANOTHER GTX 960 4GB DDR5 OC Edition (170$)
-- Intel Core i7 975 CPU Extreme Edition (85$, USED )
-- G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series (24GB TOTAL) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (200ish$)
-- Samsung 860 evo SSD 500gb (120$)
-- May upgrade power supply since it could be faulty.

total above is 500-600 depending on deals I find.

OR
do i build the following and maybe sell above without upgrades for about 400?? Just when i build I like to BUILD so i want it to do all, even though i may not have the need for it too lol

i7-8700K (plan on OC to 5.0 ghz)
MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon
16GB DDR4-3200 (maybe 32gb depending on budget)
V750 80+ Gold (not sure what kind)
MSI GTX 1080 TI Gaming X
Samsung 860 EVO 500GB (storage drive)
Samsung 960 PRO 250GB (boot) maybe 960 EVO as storage with 860 as well depending on budget
Not sure on CPU cooling either
could use help on:
MONITOR
CASE
CPU COOLER

Doesnt have to be RGB but I was leaning towards one, or at least something with color.

First post, looking for some good info. If I build, Id rather get the best of best (or close). I know there other "cheaper builds" just figured looking at the one above I cant go wrong.

Thanks Guys

Check out TechYesCity on YT, he's got some good videos about getting a lot from the X58 platform. Even one comparing the X5675 to the 8700k.

Solid advice from dellby2012,
The Xeon options are still phenomenal. I have one that I went from a Hybrid Firecuda Hard Drive to a Samsung 850Evo and do not see a bit of speed difference. So if budget is any issue then you may consider hybrid drive if it's mostly for additional storage.

I put some builds up on Reddit a few hours ago.

You can reuse your PSU and drives, and case to shave off some cost if you want.

I'm not following the logic
500-600 upgrade or

build a new machine that starts with a $800 video card

and you don't really game

add the SSD with a new install OS and go from there.

I'm all for the new build compared to upgrading...your older stuff is getting outdated no matter how you work it

for those that hate spelling mistakes www.walmarts.comCool

bulb save money by checking your insurance every 2 years (and not every 20) Thanks Liberty Mutual for reminding me to shop. The $842 increase this year sums it up. Across the board increase for Ohio....whatever

Ya I don't follow the logic on this one at all. Sounds like OP just pulled parts together without knowing where they rank in terms of performance and their need. That bottom gaming build is a few thousand dollars.
