rtings.com video review was recently posted. It's a really thorough review and mentions the screen uniformity issues:

Good TV and good picture quality if you can get past the uniformity issues, aka LEDs can be seen at times behind the screen

Bought this TV from Best Buy last week. Can't say I've found any issues with the TV. I'm sure if I tried hard enough I could come up with something but so far so good.

there have been several online deals lately but I'd steer clear with the initial batch with uniformity issues. Unless you buy locally with easy returns to play the panel lottery game. That's what I did and I'm enjoying the bargain brand with high end features. See rtings video here. https://youtu.be/vDEWxtPc4eQ

I give it high marks for HDR gaming and HTPC. My 4K laptop just told be to bump up the resolution to 4K and it's even better now, except some windows are too big for screen. Some sort of overscan thing.

It's luck of the draw as far as the uniformity issues.. but I think it's the 65" model that it's more common on.

I got the impression at avs that it was more problems with the 55", maybe since they were more common. Half the time I think terrible freight handling and sketchy delivery outfit caused some of the returns. Maybe the DSE or banding is partly from physical damage, if not maybe it can be a FW fix. Some report it gets worse and some report it gets better.

I can barely see the problem on my 65" and I really have to look for them. Some folks are more picky and will return several times to get a perfect panel, regardless of brand.

The $349 vizio 65e I got for the pool had bad uniformity issues I had to wait a week for walmart to send another one and that one had like a whole line of stuck pixels almost clear across the whole tv but the uniformity was good. I finally decided it was walmart shipping or Walmart just had a bad batch so I called vizio and their having one delivered white glove service. Supposed to be here Thursday. We will wait and see. First time I've ever gotten 2 bad tvs in a row.... but I cant stand dse or uniformity issues or the backlight shining through the screen. even a little bit and it ruins the tv for me and I'll never be able to unsee it.

Would surprise me if it was a shipping issue. Maybe the containers weren't sealed properly. I haven't noticed any issues with my 55r617. was even able to use rtings exact config without having to modify it other than lowering the brightness to brighter.

It was a stretch, not like I know much. Took me awhile to get everything set up. I haven't got around to the rtings tweaks. I need to catch up at AVS and see what they have.

Downloading new updates to Forza 7 and FC5 DLC for some more fun later. Plan on spending more on HDR media and games.

I picked up a 65" from Best Buy two days ago. It has banding issues. It happens mostly on my set in light colors.... which makes it a no-go as any time there is a sky on the screen especially when panning left or right makes the issue stick out. Going to be taking it back in the next few days. Sucks because the 65" is not in stock in store so each time I have to do a return will be another week to get a replacement TV back.

Try turning off or on theater mode I think it's called in the settings.
