TextNow offers unlimited LTE for 39.99. I think this works for sprint cdma or unlocked gsm phones only.

Here is an article from CNET on the new service:

* MVNO on SPRINT + TMOBILE
* BYOD allowed (unlocked sprint or gsm devices)
* 23 GB data LTE limit - going above you are at risk of your speeds being throttled to 2G

According to the CNET article:
Quote :
"All you need is an unlocked Sprint or GSM phone and TextNow's free SIM card. If it's a Sprint model, you'll be on Sprint's network; if it's GSM, you'll be on a "third-party" carrier. (TextNow isn't allowed to specify, but according to Wikipedia and other sources, it's T-Mobile.)"

"Like Republic Wireless, TextNow leverages Wi-Fi (when available) for calls and text messages."

I have Verizon prepaid at $40 a month for unlimited everything except data at 3GB... I buy the $40 cards on Amazon for $35 usually.

I have tried a few of these off brands and even those that run on Verizon towers (Total Wireless) have half or less the download speeds of Verizon prepaid - comparing phones side by side in same location. I joke to folks - I keep trying to get a divorce from Verizon but it never works out.

And in my state - Oregon - Verizon has by far the best coverage. I keep an H2O phone as a backup - decent service pay as you go - but their coverage is way less than Verizon here..

For the free app standard, do you need an internet connection to make and receive calls?

These companies drive me crazy with the word "unlimited". Unlimited LTE if you stay under 23gb after that you will have limited LTE speed.

It is not a "risk" of being slowed down after 23gb it clearly says you will for sure get slowed down after 23gb
