Finally, someone being honest about what these are for. But it is good that there are some games for these things, so we can all pretend we play games on them. But the truth is, it's just a porn machine.

I own one of these and I purchased another one just now as a gift.
This headset is pretty awesome IMO. Very easy to use as a standalone device. I used to have the Samsung Gear VR, but that was always a pain having to use my Galaxy phone... and the Gear VR constantly overheated.

The Oculus GO is built well and has pretty decent graphics, with minimal "screen door" effect. The sound is also pretty decent and innovative in the way it's built into the side straps/support. There's also a headphone jack. You can not use bluetooth headphones, unfortunately.

I use this primarily to watch live/recorded TV through Plex, as well as Netflix, and Youtube.
There are standalone Oculus apps, like Showtime that have recently launched, but you can view a lot of content just using the built-in browser.

There are so many other things you can do with this thing like interactive game play, 360 videos, etc.

The only downside is that the battery life is around 2-3 hours, depending on what you're doing with it. However, you can plug in the micro USB (yes, it still uses a micro USB, not a USB-C) and continue to use it while it's charging, so it's not that big of a deal.

At $199, it was a good deal. At $159, it's a no brainer.
I expect this to sell out fairly quickly from Newegg's Ebay store today. When the coupon went live, they had sold 4. Currently, they're over 160 sold in under an hour.

The rift needs to be hooked up to a computer w/ a decent GPU. Meaning, you're going to get much more complex graphics on the Rift, and it also has 2 controllers with better motion tracking.

The Go is as self contained VR headeset. it doesn't need to be hooked up to anything, but that means the graphics are far more simplistic. The headset itself, oddly enough, actually has a higher resolution display than the Rift does though, so text looks pretty crisp on it.

What is playable on these? Can I play games like super hot? Are there full fledged titles available? (Full fledged for VR)

So what's the difference between this and the Oculus Rift? The Rift is twice as expensive, so there's gotta be something that the Go is missing.

I always wanted VR. QUESTION is what is the difference between standalone VR vs shell VR that is using a phone? I already have a smart phone (I guess we all do these days) so do I need to spend over$150 or buy a shell cost way less ???

Ebay is having a 20% off sale. Is every item between $50 and $500 going to be a slickdeal?

The Oculus Go is best used has a media device. It's got a mobile processor so games are underpowered. Works great for simulated big screen. The optics are higher resolution than the Oculus Rift
