Just bought the 34UM61P at Costco for $50 more. Considering returning it for this. The specs are nearly identical except a tiny bit bigger chassis. So far I love it for office/IT work.

Any reason to not go with this if it'll be used for a decent amount for gaming?

is this too big for a desk sitting 3-4 feet away? Is there any benefit for a nVidia card or should I wait for one with G Sync?

That is really not bad for gaming, I've been using this monitor for a while and love it and if you have an AMD video card that supports freesync then you will really love it too.

Only if you have a Nvidia1070/Vega 46 higher card now, then 1440p is the way to go. I have AMD 580 and gaming on 1080p.

You are not going to find one at this price with gsync.

You will definitely have a tough time running games on an ultrawide at high fps rates w/ a GTX 1070. I have a 1070 w/ a 144hz gsync 1440p monitor, and I can't get even close to 80-100 fps with AAA titles even with graphics toned down. With an ultrawide it will be even harder, assuming you will go the 1440p ultrawide route.

Not to discourage you, but just to set expectations. If you want to really get that top fps rate, and fully use the Gsync / ultrawide / high refresh rate, you'll need something like a 1080 Ti

Awesome deal, just sold my 29" for $150 and a friend is buying the included hard drive for $30 so I only paid $43.99 to upgrade from 29" to 34" 🙂
