What's the main difference between this and the 55R617. Specs seem the same?

The 55R617 has a much better picture due to its full array local dimming and improved HDR capabilities, but also tends to be pricier. This TV does have better built-in speakers and a better looking physical design if you're into that.

Is it true HDR or just the fake HDR, alot of screens claim hdr but dont carry the support to make them truly HDR. This can be a big problem when it comes to pricing, why buy and "HDR" television when you are paying more for somethign that you arent actually getting

So I jumped on this deal yesterday and picked up another tv for the house. I ended up getting the tcl 55p605, I'm brand new to 4k. I'm curious how this tv would compare to my 1080p 2014 LG oled 55 ec9300. Do you think it would replace it in the family room?

It will blow the 1080p out on picture. Especially if you use the 4K apps like Netflix and Amazon video. Both have great 4K content. Picture is amazing
