Was shopping for a new TV for the World Cup...55" doesn't cut it...no space for 75".

Went into BBY yesterday and looked around...most of the high end ones were in the $1500-3500 range.

Got an Amex Offers for 10% off Small Business link up to $1500...went and saw this puppy:

http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/ac...d/a9778044

Seemed like a great deal...pretty much $1299.00 at most major stores. Throw in the $250 Dell GC, 10% off Amex Offer, $28 in Dell Rewards, and it is effectively around $650 shipped. Yes, it's the 2017...but paying nearly double for a 2018 which is very similar isn't worth the freight, IMHO.

This TV seems to get good reviews (CR rates just below OLED units...77 points), and looks nice. One big plus for me is the center stand...the TVs with the legs at the ends are too long for my console, and I don't feel like wall mounting.

Bought this AM, just got shipping notice, will be here next Thursday...just in time to catch Russia vs. Saudi Arabia!!!

Don't see why it wouldn't...I used the Amex link on their website. Nothing in the fine print gives any restrictions.

Be careful with those Dell deals and their referral links. If you use the search bar, it will show items from Dell Home and Dell Small Business websites.

If the TV is on the Dell Home site, you won't get any cash back. Many people are having trouble with the Dell OLED Memorial Day deal. https://slickdeals.net/f/11642715-55-lg-oled65b7a-4k-oled-hdtv-300-dell-e-gift-card-1099-after-200-sd-rebate-free-s-h?src=SiteSearch

Dell doesn't play well with others. I think they do it on purpose to get out of rebates. They have more rebate deals than any major retailer. It works, when they have a low payout rate.

The Dell rebates are through SD, not Dell.

FWIW, this TV was very highly rated by Consumer Reports. This is an excellent IMO.

A review on Dell.com —

"This TV is not 4K. It is only 2.88K.
I noticed the colors were a little off. 4K pixels should be RGB. After some research I found that they substitute every fourth pixel for a white one. So the lower cost LG sets, including this one is RGBW. Which causes a loss of 25%, which in turn makes this a 2.88K set, not a 4K. If you want real 4K, do not get this set, or any of the lower priced models. The 8500, and 9500 ARE full 4K. I should have done my research. WebOS does not offer DirecTV Now, or the Spectrum app. Or any other cable channel apps. So you will need a Roku, or Chromecast. I will be returning this one for one of LG's OLED's."

RGBW on LCD is a bit controversial on the home theater enthusiast sites. It all depends on how picky you are. The difference is pretty clear on test patterns. If the TV is being viewed 7-10 feet away, it will be hard to notice in content. If you are looking at it 3 feet away, you might be able to pick it up.

For most people looking at TVs for under $1k, there will be comparable weaknesses in competing sets. Most people don't even bother with professional calibration services. Most TVs have colors that are a bit off.
