I talked to one Apple employee earlier today. He thought Apple will refresh MacBook Pro lineup this July with the 8th gen Intel CPU. The refresh is already late since Intel announced 8th gen CPU back in 2017 so I believe this assumption can be more or less accurate.

And that's not your average upgrade like Intel has done for years. 8th gen upgrades i5 dual-core to quad-core. I'm using Surface Book 2 right now which has i7 8650u (1.9GHz that can boost to 4.2GHz. I personally could maintain 3.5GHz on all four cores under loads). If you need more power, definitely wait until next month at least. Otherwise, even we can confirm Apple is refreshing this model next month, this discount is still the best we've ever seen.

I purchased this from my local best buy 25 days ago for $1,063.69 (open-box for $950 before tax) but now the open-box is down to $849.99 before tax. Unfortunately they do not allow the student coupon with open box.

Do you think BestBuy refund the price difference if it is after the 15 day return period?

I will wait until the new MacBook Pro releases, but the price is the best I seen in a long time!! If you don't need the quad core, then I would say jump on it! I would have bought one if I didn't spend all my money for my trip to Japan lol. Happy buying everyone Smilie

It's worth a try. They can only say no.

Next announcement is in September. Not July. WWDC was on June 4th. They announced no hardware on that date. Unless you need the laptop now or there's some substantial discount for the MacBook pro I would wait until after the September announcement to purchase. This deal is eh, seen this w couple times already this year. Kind of pops up every month. If you're holding out it'll be around next month as well so don't need to buy immediately.

The butterfly keyboards on the current MBP's are failing at an alarming rate prompting three separate class action lawsuits. I would definitely wait for Apple to fix the design before buying a MBP.

I would seriously read up on all the issues with the newer gen Macbooks before purchasing. And if you do decide to purchase, buy Apple Care. The keyboard issues alone run about $600 to fix. There are currently 3 class action lawsuits over the keyboard that Apple refuses to admit is faulty. Mine is a little over a year old and already has issues with 2 keys. And I am an Apple fan, own tons of Apple products, but super disappointed with how they are handling this one.
