Moto G6 - $199 from Project Fi

$50 off MSRP and not contingent on activation, like how Verizon will give a $50 credit upon activation. I ordered one and paid $199 (w/ tax). If I never activate then I won't pay anything beyond what I already have. Planning to put it on T-Mobile.

https://fi.google.com/about/phones/#moto-g6

UPDATE 6/16/18: I've had the phone on the T-mobile network for 5 days now without issue. Project Fi SIM remains unactivated. And AGAIN, there is nothing explicitly written that says activation is required within 30 days or Google will charge another $50.

U{DATE 7/7/18: Phone was delivered 30 days ago and there NO additional $50 charge. Also, the phone was removed from my Fi account. It shows 0 devices in my account. And since I never activated it, I have no bills. Net result is $199 TOTAL for this phone.

Is this a good deal? How's the camera? No OIS, which seems like a bad sign

It seems that Moto X4 beats everything than G6 and just $50 more.

Not all budget phones will even include OIS. If you want a good camera around $200, go for the Pixel first gen refurb.

Oh? My friend took his Nexus 6p to T-mobile without issue. But if activation is required, you could use a referral code to for a $20 credit and sign up for data/text-only for $20.

The Moto X4 deal requires activation. You end up paying $399 if you don't activate within 30 days. There are no strings attached for the $199 G6.

I bought the X4 earlier, traded in my nexus 5x that a button is not working for $95.

when looking at the specs I noticed that the moto G6 has much more LTE bands and it's also CDMA + GCM and the X4 is not. My question is, does Fi roams between Sprint and Tmobile for calls /2g or is it just for LTE that roams between carriers?

If it roams for everything the G6 might have better coverage

This. I can't get to a checkout without signing up for a plan.
