This is a great comparison video on the UDH65 versus the Sony.
Sony still makes a better image but the UDH65 definitely comes close and offers tremendous value.

Need a faux 4k projector for gaming.
Don't think that my gtx 1060 will output @ 4k though.
I'm sure 1080p-1440/15?? will work just fine though.

Those guys do great reviews. Here is one they did of UHZ65 ($4,000, 2-step shift) vs Sony VPL-VW365ES ($8,000, native 4k):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0zNJnW0xdQ

Summary: They trade blows and overall come out pretty much even. Some of the differences (such as color reproduction) will come down to personal preference. Blacks and dark image contrast/detail seems better on UHZ65. The sharpness of UHZ65's shift technology vs Sony's native 4k is almost indistinguishable even on a highly zoomed in image, with Sony having a slight edge.

Once you take into account the price difference between the two, it's no surprise that UHZ65 is so highly recommended. If I didn't just blow $20k on a kitchen reno, I'd be all over this deal.

You wrote "true 4K" at first about the UHZ65, now you're walking that back. Of course.

LG street price is already $2.5k. Get a clue. And the UHD65 is OLD in this world.
Shut up. Lg is 1080 faux. And no one care what you think - is this the best price for this item? That's hot deals moron

Just to confirm, a gaming PC hooked up to a faux 4K projector is only pushing the native pixel count correct? Seems like the best way to game in "4K" since mainstream cards aren't quite up to consistent 4K/60 in newest titles yet.

Well I did just order a used, and over mined gtx 1080, and it should be quite capable to output @ 4k resolutions. Just saying that my TV does 1440p resolutions @ 60hz, and it looks substantially better than 1080p.
That said, I should try making some custom resolutions, and see what happens.

But hey, if you are spending $1500+ on a projector, you'll probably not mind spending $550 on a video card.

I really hope at some point we'll see DLP models with the same placement flexibility as LCD projectors. I have an LCD in a space where none of these DLPs will work.

Awww love the dick swinging. Stick with 1080p for another 2 years unless you wanting to spend 5-8k on a decent 4K projector

As someone already pointed out, the LG uses an older TI chip. The main benefits I see with the LG is the tuner, WebOS, keystoning and design / size. But it does cost 3k everywhere and is likely on backorder most places.
