Willing to pull the trigger but looked at the reviews and seems like "rebooting" is a problem with this router even with latest firmware. Any recommendations.

Get the TMobile Asus 1900 which can be flashed with Asus AC-RT68U for $48 Refurb. The deal pops up every month. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/394055

Looks like the deal above is still available

I have one of these routers and it's been great. Zero problems.

I think $40 is a great deal for it.

I would have liked to have gone the T-Mobile route, but I read about some personal having issues and it scared me away. The stock firmware works good for me with this router.

I also like using the Asus app to quickly/easily shut off Internet access or restrict bandwidth to various devices around the house when certain users need to go to bed. That alone makes it well worth the $40 I spent buying it a few months back via Fry's and Google Express.

Anyone know if I could do the above (restrict devices/turn off devices) with the tmo 1900ac turned-rt68u?

It is listed as one of the supported routers if you check the documentation for the app in the Play store.

I have the: ASUS RT-ACRH13 Dual-Band 2x2 AC1300
I can't speak directly for this one in the OP, but mine has not rebooted. I have it mounted vertically on the wall, which would allow the heat to better rise. Bought it Used-Like New from Amazon Warehouse. $35ish when they were running 20% off. Anyway, it's now my goto wifi in the house. My first 5G one. (I still have my Nano M2 outdoor access point for other stuff around the homestead)

It's a full router. Not just a WiFi access point, if that's what you're asking.
