note: 15 set is only $25

so 29 set for $75 is not an SD

unless fancy cases impress you Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
I am a Mechanic by trade, I purchased many bit sets before settling on a Cobalt set. This price is not bad at all. Irwin tools are quality, a 1/2 cobalt bit will run you 13 - 22 bucks by itself.

Are these super heavy duty or what? I just picked up the Milwaukee
Titanium Shockwave Drill Bit Kit (23-Piece) for $20 this week at home Depot. I'm guessing my Milwaukee set is more for home use.

I'd think the Milwaukee set you have is heavy duty as well. This set however has better material.
"Titanium" branded drill bits are not actually made out of Titanium. They're HSS (High speed steel), coated with Titanium on the outside. The Titanium coating will eventually wear off, and you will end up with a set of basic HSS drill bit.
Cobalt drill bits, however, is made out of a HSS with Cobalt added. End result is drill bits that has exceptional endurance against high temperature drilling (meaning you can drill way faster), abrasive material, excessive wear and tear.
And guess what? With Cobalt drill bits, after the drill bits get dull, you only need to sharpen it to make it performs like new.

Source: I used to work with airplane sheet metal. HSS drill bits is the shitty drill bits that always break. Cobalt drill bits (slightly golden in color) are much better, and are prefer drill bits when we have to drill through steel.

$60.23 on Walmart. Not sure how this became a good deal.

My mistake - Did a search for the part number but it came back with 3018005 instead of 3018002.

The 15pc metal index set says M-42 5% cobalt. The reg 15 pc set says m-42 8% and this 29pc pro set says m35 5%. So which is better m-42 or m-35?

29 piece set average price is around $100 for Cobalt. 29 piece sets are so expensive because they have every available size in standard up to 1/2". They have all the in between tap sizes for making threads which 15 pc typically have NO tap sizes. Also bits 22-29 are all above 3/8" which are the more expensive bits obviously due to larger size.

Absolutely rite I drill metal everyday at work and will only buy Cobalt bits. Phenomenal life. I push so hard on those bits drilling into I beams and they work fantastic due to extreme temperature resistance and they jus keep on going
