Newegg rebate pulled after placing an order.

8,537 2,273 June 9, 2018 at 09:28 AM
Ordered some items from Newegg on June 4. Rebate not on Newegg item page but rebate was listed on 4myrebates page as active for June 4 thru June 5 with limit of 3 items at 9.00 each.

Many ordered the 3 items, assuming since the Newegg rebate for these items was listed on the rebate company's list, that those making the purchase would be good to go because at times Newegg, Frys or other retailers just forget to add the rebate to the item page. Also we were able to pull up the rebate on 4myrebates at the time or purchase and some went ahead and pre-registered their items.

After purchases were made from Newegg for rebated item and after the deadline of the rebate, Newegg pulled the rebate. When clicking on prior link to get to rebate, it didn't show up anymore YET 4myrebates still had it on their end and one could register items by calling in.

Wouldn't it be Newegg's error in having the rebate page showing as available at time of purchase even if not listed on their item page? Shouldn't they have made sure it was off of 4myrebates list before listing the item for sale?

Many have refused the item/items and returned to Newegg because rebate was pulled, some have submitted the rebate anyway by calling it in.

Do we, that purchased the item have any recourse in this situation? Is Newegg to blame or should we accept that rebate won't be paid and returns won't be accepted. How is this the customer's fault?

Seems to me it is Newegg's error in having that rebate available and out there to see on the rebate page. Even if rebate company's fault it is still not the customer's fault.

This item also came with a 9.00 Newegg promo card which everyone has already received via email so that puts a wrench in situation, I would assume, when thinking of doing a refund.

Just posting this here to get other's views.

4myrebate went out of business. Newegg seems to be making good on the rebates but there is processing time. Newegg confirmed this with me

According to our records you have submitted a Newegg In-House Rebate Form for 12-117-297 purchased on 03/01/2018. The rebate processing center that was handling our in-house rebates unfortunately notified us this week that it is going out of business immediately. Don't worry! Your rebate will be processed directly by Newegg. We will issue you a rebate check and send it to the billing address listed on your account. If your billing address is no longer correct, please update your account with the correct billing address.

I can confirm. I contacted Newegg last week about a rebate I submitted a few months ago. They confirmed it was accepted and would be sent out immediately. Then today I got an email identical to the one above. To Neweggs credit, they have said they are personally processing it and will have a check to me within five days.

I got the same e-mail about one of my Newegg rebates, but I actually have hundreds of dollars of outstanding Newegg rebates.

We need a rebate rep from Newegg to come here and explain and answer our questions. Maybe start a thread and let the rep. help us out. I think there are a lot of people still unsure and Newegg is giving conflicting info on their website that doesn't match what their customer service reps are telling us.

I have called Newegg yesterday and today. This is basically the response I got from them below both days. I hope it is true that I don't need to fill out that form they sent out for any of my submitted and approved rebates dating back to march. I'd hate to wait a 4-6 weeks and find out I WAS supposed to fill out that form for all 8 of my outstanding rebates.

I have 8 rebates for the year 2018 and none had been paid. 6 approved and 2 submitted waiting on documentation that I sent out last week.

I'm tempted to fill out the Newegg form for all my rebates just to be doubly sure I get paid. But who knows if that screws me up.

I don't know why Newegg can't explain on their website how all this is going to work instead of confusing us with tidbits of info here and there. Just explain what we need to do and how it will work with past submitted rebates.

There also should be better communication with management and customer service and those doing the rebates.

I called once again this morning and was told the same thing I was told yesterday. If your rebate is approved or being processed, you do not need to do anything else. No need to fill out the rebate form they posted on their website UNLESS you would prefer to have a NewEgg gift card or unless you have a rebate you need to register but can't because of the now broken link to 4myrebates rebate center.

The posted form is only for those unable to submit a rebate due to the broken link.

I asked about the email I received for an item I purchased and why that was sent out when I have several other rebates outstanding. Rep said ignore it if that rebate is already in the system i.e. has tracking and is registered..approved or processing. I said that particular item had already been approved anyway. He said then you're fine.

I asked what that form was on the rebate center page with the date of 5-9-18. Rep said again to ignore if all rebates are registered and in the system.

Guy had me on hold about 10 minutes while he communicated with the people processing our rebates now and these are answers he was given by them.

Also in their notes, the reps answering the phone are to tell us if rebates already in the system with tracking, there is nothing more for us to do but WAIT 4-6 weeks.

I suggested that they need to remove that notice from the rebate page as it is confusing if it's not true.

He said the people working on our rebates now have access to all things we already sent in.

Anyway, this is the story I've been told 2 days in a row now by calling in.

There's not really conflicting information, it was just communicated poorly.

The 05/09/18 date was a point of reference that was approximately 30 days prior to the shutdown of Newegg's 4MyRebate site last week. They chose it for that specific reason, to let those know who had waited to the last minute to register and mail their rebates that they could still get their money by using their new form and having Newegg verify it themselves using only the SO #.

In regards to the whole 4MyRebate debacle... I think it is all BS, especially the part about them closing down, but that is another story. laugh out loud

It was confusing because I got an email from Newegg for a rebate dated 5-3 (prior to that 5-9 date) that they wanted me to fill out the new form. Why just that one?

I called Newegg twice. Both times I was told that if I submitted all my rebates and they are either approved or processing, that I do not need to fill out the new form. I'm good to go. 2nd rep I talked to put me on hold while he confirmed this info with the rebate dept.

Yet Newegg puts a form on their rebate page that says I need to re-submit all rebates dated after 5-9 so that is different than what I was told on the phone.

So I am wondering if I should just resubmit them all to be on safe side or will that confuse them and hold up my rebates longer. I'm getting told 2 things. Do I need to re-submit or not? Which is it? lol

You have to keep in mind that there are lots of people who don't visit SD and talk about these things. They only check their email and maybe the rebate site. The 05/09/18 date was kind of arbitrarily picked, trying to give a "cutoff" of 30 days prior to the site shutdown, but at the same time say that they (Newegg) will make good on any outstanding rebate offers. I'm sure you could claim that you sent in rebates within the past 60 days that magically didn't arrive at the Rebate Cenrer and they would still honor them for you... but they dont want people who simply forgot their rebates from months ago all of the sudden making tons of claims way after the fact now that no UPCs or mailing are required.

Personally, I think that there will be limited issues in fulfillment of all offers already mailed in/processed/approved. I think that 4MyRebate will probably mail those cards out as normal once funded by Newegg. Worst case, Newegg will at least get the data from them to process them by check. I do think it will be a delayed process and probably not resolved for 2 to 3 months, considering there are rebates approved backlogged to March/April.

The automated emails they sent out with one random Order # from months ago and an Item # were bizarre and further added to the confusion. They should have sent a generic email to everyone and had a FAQ page set-up to ease concerns. They also shouldn't have instructed their customer service agents to lie... because I seriously doubt 4MyRebate went of business and this is all the result of a contract dispute or negligence on Neweggs rebate admin's part... but hey, what do I know? Popcorn

To answer your question, I dont believe you need to resubmit as long as your claims are already registered for/mailed/approved. If your claims aren't in the system yet or were not scanned/approved... then you may want to re-register for those. What harm could it do? Most of us would prefer check anyways.

How long does it usually take for 4myrebates to mark documents mailed as received?

I mailed some documents on 6-8 but they still hadn't posted. Rebate form is registered and status says waiting on my paperwork. I'm wondering if they are even still doing updates anymore.

I'll give it a few more days and then I'll just fill out the Newegg rebate form.

Edited to add 6-22-18 - Come to find out, you should re-submit all outstanding rebates using that Newegg form. I was on the phone with them a good while today and they did not have access to a March and April rebate that was already approved a while back. They filled out those forms for me and re-submitted.

I also learned that if you submit a rebate, and if you have more than 1 quantity, put the total money amount you're supposed to receive for all on the rebate.

Go to https://kb.newegg.com then click "FAQs regarding recent changes to Newegg in-house mail-in rebates", the page shows:

If you've already submitted your rebate, your rebate will be automatically processed directly by Newegg, it does not ask us to resubmit all rebates submitted since May 9, 2018. So if your rebate is approved or being processed(scanned) at newegg.4myrebate.com, you do not need to do anything.

If you haven't submitted your rebate, go to new rebate submission link https://promotions.newegg.com/new...index.html

I too thought the same thing as I was told that by Newegg over and over by different reps but come to find out I wouldn't trust that information if you want to be paid.

From all the conflicting information I kept reading, I decided to just call Newegg and go over all my rebates 1 by 1 to be on the safe side. All my rebates (8) were in the 4myrebates system. 6 were approved and the last 2 were processing. I was on the phone for a long while w/Newegg but it gave me a peace of mind.

After talking to Newegg yesterday, I found out I had to file the new Newegg Rebate for all but 1. That 1 rebate was the one and only I received the Newegg email on. I didn't receive an email on any others.

I had asked why I was sent an email on just that one. What about the others not paid submitted earlier? That's when I found out I'd need to re-submit those also on new form.

Those that I did not get an email on when they sent out the emails, I would need to fill out the Newegg rebate form, even if it was already approved or processing.

Newegg thought my older March and April rebates had been paid. I told them they were approved but I've never been paid. For those 3, he filled out the forms for me and sent them to Retentions. Why Retentions? I don't know. He said I didn't get an email on those because they thought those had been paid out. NO. Sounds like he's basically going on my word that I wasn't paid and those go to retentions to be paid to keep customers happy? Who knows.

Rep said since I got an email from Newegg on rebate from 5-3-18, that that was fine and nothing I need to do.

So all I had left were rebates dated after 5-9. Since he said I had to re-file the 6-4 rebate, I decided to just re-submit any I had left over. I wasn't feeling confident about those still in 4myrebate system since so far I've been asked to re-submit others I thought were fine and in the system processing and approved.

Newegg rep also said I'd need to fill out the form on one I ordered 6-4 (Syba card) even though it was processing at 4myrebates. He also filled that one in for me and sent me screenshots for my records.

If I had waited 4-6 weeks and not gotten paid for any of these I guestioned, I'd then have to re-submit and waited another 4-6 weeks so to be on safe side, I ended up re-filing all but the one I gotten email on.

I no longer trust when they say if in the system approve or processing then you are fine. I wasn't fine.
