You don't compare brands, you compare models. Which specific Samsung model are you referring to? The 49" NU8000 [rtings.com] will perform much better but costs $540. The 43" NU7100 [rtings.com] will perform nearly identical to this one but slightly brighter and better for a bright room. It runs $390. The 49" Q6F [rtings.com] will blow it away in nearly every single area, but costs $575. The 40" MU6290 [rtings.com] was replaced by the NU7100 and will perform nearly identical but with slightly less features and costs $305.

In general the Roku OS on this TV is easier to use and preferred over the Tizen OS that Samsung models use. This TV would be a much better buy for kids or elderly people due to the very easy to use remote (dedicated app buttons are a great feature).

I would recommend this TV over the Samsung MU6290 or NU7100 for ease of use and cost savings. The NU8000 and Q6F have much better performance, but double the price. If using as a guest TV or kids TV, it is not worth the cost. If using as a main use TV, then I would say the cost is justified. But in the higher $600 price bracket, there are several other TVs to consider, mainly the TCL R617.

This is a 60hz panel. The 120hz CMI label is post processing to make the picture "look" smoother.

What is the max resolution I could run on this with a 120hz input?

I bought one, thanks OP! I've been considering buying a 65" 4K TV for my primary TV watching room but been reluctant to pull the trigger as I watch mostly cable broadcasts and very little 4K content. I've read conflicting opinions on how much, if any, improvement I will see watching 720 or 1080p telecasts on a 4K TV, based on a particular units "upscaling" capability. This TV gets me into the 4K game inexpensively. I'll put it in a bedroom and see if I notice much difference.

It is nearly impossible to find a TV under $500 that accepts a 120Hz input. You should probably look for a monitor instead.
