Amazon looks to have just dropped price on this from around $250. Decent deal if you are looking for one now.

More expensive than the 1 tb ssd data drive I plan to build my next rig, I'll wait for the next MVNe deal for my boot drive.

Must not have been newegg on there, then, because 20% off knocking it down to $163 would mean even the start price was below what most stores' are, ie the warranty wouldn't be honored.

I got it from samsung where I am out $155 for it BUT I had to pay tax on the $230, so I am actually out around $175. I probably should have just taken a 250gb 970 evo for $55. I already have a 250gb 960 evo. I just panicked that I "may" need more than 259gb total space, most motherboards don't support nvme on more than one of their m.2 slots, and I thought I "may" at some point go over the turbowrite's buffer amount (especially for the 250gb one).

If anyone here wants a 960 evo.... mine is unopened and I want to sell it now where it will help offset some of the cost of the 970. For 99.99999% of people, apparently anything above the 960 evo is about worthless, ie I probably made a bad choice getting the 970. The benchmarks are irrelevant because most people won't go over the turbowrite limits and any speeds above the turbowrite speeds is unnoticeable in the real world.

I'm probably even selling one of my unopened 1tb wd blue drives also because I honestly feel like I don't need more than 1 tb hdd and this 512 gb ssd, because who needs more than that actively on the pc? There's this thing called external storage for everything you don't use all the time.

Correct. This was $247.99 and with the 20% discount, it ended up being $198.39.

Newegg [newegg.com](or via eBay [ebay.com]) is currently selling it for $229.99 as well.

The thing is, though, some claim you shouldn't even get a nvme ssd at all (for like 90% of people) and that just a random sata ssd will not be noticeably slower. But I just felt like.... for video editing it could make a difference. And plus how does anyone know what programs will come out in the next few years? Some of those may make extra good use of nvme.

I think I will regret getting the pro instead of just an evo, though, given that I could have got a 250gb evo for $55 (including tax and shipping). That's crazy savings and so few people would need a pro over an evo...

Oh well. Once I build my pc and am using this, I'll probably be so happy that I'll forget I paid a bit extra. If I kept my 960 and got the 250gb eco 970, I would have been out about $50 less than what I am doing now. So not the hugest of deals..

Probably my big mistake is I bought 32gb of RAM instead of 16gb. :p

You don't happen to know any legit sites that would have good deals on powerdirector 16 ultimate, do you? I think it is around $70 at cyberlink, when using a code, but that is also just the download, whereas I'd rather get the disc. At amazon the disc is less than $90, but newegg still has it well over $100.
