Many of you may have received the email blast from Newegg this morning for C3150 v2 with a free modem.
A friend of mine told me that they have a hidden discount for additional $20off if checking out with the promo code EMCPVER84. If any of you finds it useful, please feel free to try it.

I wish someone would tell me a good router that isn't from a Chinese company, doesn't cost hundreds, and doesn't involve Google spying. I was going to get the asus version of google wifi, but figured google was involved, so they'd probably be doing their typical shenanigans. Thought about tp-link, but bad enough having Chinese made products, even double bad buying one where the company itself is Chinese.

No I'm not. Chinese companies have actually got in big trouble for backdoors in routers, I believe, and Google is one of the worst companies related to privacy.

This Is a very good router but one could get the v1 for $79 and there is no significant performance difference.

MU-MIMO is a gimmick and there is no easy way to root it to another firmware.

I'll give you an actual serious answer. If that's what you're looking for then you might look at a used Cisco router off of eBay. But don't expect a GUI, or a built-in firewall.

You don't have to be used to avoid Chinese companies. Again, most companies use Chinese parts, but they aren't Chinese companies. Big difference. Anything that's so old that you can only find it used would be a waste of time. And people shrugging off what Google has done is exactly why privacy is going down hill across the board.

You obviously know nothing about Enterprise networking Hardware by your comment that if it's old enough to used, it's worthless. Look at Ubiquiti Edge routers and access points and build your own Pro class Network at home for about $300. Make sure you wrap the router in tin foil though...you never know what might happen... Or who's watching...
