Probably a good deal if you're in the market for ni-cad, but it baffles me that people have not moved on from these..

Some expensive tools dewalt tools cannot be used with the 20v batteries. I use the adapter on everything else I have that is not 20v already though. The only issue is that is that if the battery is left in the adapter it is drained completely when not in use.

This was my first thought. I have some craftsman tools that were originally nicad and the lithium batteries were a tremendous improvement. It was like upgrading the entire set all at once.

Exactly. I have a great nail gun that takes these batteries. The 20v adaptor will not work with this tool, so even if I had Dewalt 20v tools, that would not be an option. I've read from others on the internet that 18v lithiums would work with the gun, but I've never seen that statement from Dewalt (I think I've read the opposite, actually). Even if it were true, though, I'd have to buy a new charger. In sum, not interested in monkeying around with a pricey tool that meets my needs as is.

Side rant — Dewalt with their confusing batteries is the primary reason why I've started looking at Milwaukee first when I need/want something cordless.
