I agree, but I use the DriveAssist and don't imaging myself going back to the nonassist model. They came out with a DriveAssist 51, but basically just added WiFi to the DiveAssist 50. I would be all over this if it was the assist.

Holy Shiz... $200? (If this were 10 years ago I would gladly pay $600 for the same device)

device seems to have buttloads of features but Im only interested in the naviagation.
it's hard to justify $200

considering I have a two smartphone with google maps. and a older smart phone with TomTom install with US/CAnada all stored on the device (no need for it to be online)

Battery life is only one hour! This much money can buy you an Android phone (or an excellent refurbished phone) with ability to download world map with hours of battery life and do other stuff.
If your in an area with no cell signal your screwed with a phone GpS.

You can use for example Nokia HERE maps offline. Just download the maps using your local Wi-Fi before you leave the house.

I use Waze. I was a fan of garmin before waze and someone took my garmin after they broke into my car. I thought most of us carry a cell phone these days? What's the point of not using waze but buy this?

If you travel alot using your cell as a GPS destroys the battery, as does sitting in the sun on your windshield. It also works where there is no cell signal(ie west of the Mississippi and east of the Rockies) and a phone can't download maps.

To use the traffic updates you will either need to purchase an additional receiver or link the GPS device with your phone via a Garmin app which will use cellular service.
