HDR makes a bigger difference than real 4K.

Good movie, though this is fake 4K as the movie was shot at 3.4K and then downsampled to 2K for this release. You are getting HDR and a nice Atmos track, but don't expect much better picture than the blu-ray release. Though the price is decent and this is the best release to date for fans of the series.

Yeah but why even get Blu ray if a 4K version exists.

All future titles, I have been buying in 4K format

In some cases yes, but in others the Blu-ray actually has a better color palate or visuals than its 4K counterpart.

And I have largely been doing the same. With 4K you also get the Blu-ray so you have both. I was able to get the blu-ray of this movie last year for $3.98, otherwise at this price I would pick up too.

Because they charge more than bluray even if its fake 4k. Which is sometimes a ripoff and HDR isn't good. So 4k is not very definite RN with different HDR formats and real/fake 4k finishings just like fake 3d movies made to overcharge customers. Its always good to be informed.

I agree. Universal is especially bad at this posting blatantly on the back of their UHD movies "4X SHARPER THAN HD", which is an outright lie and false advertising on many of their 2K movies. Some studios will take a movie like this that was filmed at 3.4K and release it as such on UHD, although most CG work done these days is only 2K and so it can look noticeable. So for that reason I can see why studios release 2K, but as a consumer I largely would prefer to have movies at 3.4K even if there is some 2K GC work on screen. The Jurassic movies are a great example of this where the CG dinosaur scenes are noticeable yet the non-CG dinosaurs and look great and are a noticeable difference clearer than the blu-ray release.

It's good to be informed when going in to anything. At full price I would give this one a pass, but at the advertised $12.76 it isn't bad.

That's true that it's good to be informed, I'm just solely getting the 4K version which obviously comes with a Blu ray too instead of Blu ray version for future proofing purposes.

I got this deal last time for $14 I believe

I know but not all movies have good hdr. Some HDR work is lousy. Like mad max fury road 4k. 4k discs not always better imho.

A lot of that comes down to the TV, since HDR is not a fixed standard. People with entry level TVs that handle HDR poorly may find the Mad Max HDR to look poor with washed out colors, while those with higher end TVs that handle HDR very well and support wide color gamut find Mad Max to look gorgeous in HDR.
