Anyone know of an affordable neckband that has speakers/mic for talking via speaker phone?

I don't get the neckband. Is there a purpose for it?

Probably for the batteries.

Smaller earbuds and they can fit the a slightly larger battery in the neckband instead.

This is why the Airpods-like earbuds only get 4 hours, the standard bluetooth earphones we see with no neckband but a cable running across 6-8 hours, and this one is 12 hours.

On the 8-hour ones with the cable running across tend to fall out of the ears while exercising unless they have an behind-the-ear loop or that large crescent shaped rubber. Both of which some people find annoying/irritating.

Anyone with experience on these can speak to the ANC? Heavily promoted by SD so difficult to trust votes.

I like this style -- though it may look a little odd

in fact some styles of neckbands go completely under my shirt collar that its barely visible when i am not using it

This style lets me have my earphones on my person all day long and i can plug them into my ears in a split second ..if i get a call or if i want to listen to audiobook or music

when not in use, the earphones stay completely out of my way -- i almost forget I am wearing them over my neck. i got some cheap ones that i dont mind breaking ... an i even lie down or sleep with them on many times ... they always stay on my neck and rarely if ever needs to be adjusted / rescued from falling off

maybe try with one of the $6 ones on ebay to get a hang of it to see if you like them ...those cheap ones are good for rough use like gym / toilet Smilie

oh yes ...battery life is very good on this style of earphones .. i rarely run out (i have two slightly similar ones that i keep rotating though)

edit: i see that the $9.99 item posted on OP only has 7 customer reviews with 3.5 stars average rating ... doesnt inspire confidence

They don't handle talking on the phone well (no mic) but they are Aces as headphones - great sound and great reliability. I have two - night much more Than this - this is a bloody steal mate - buy two

These are OK. The bass is solid but the mids and highs are somewhat muddy. The battery life is phenomenonal and better than they advertise in my experience. I actually have them collecting dust now.

These have a vibration notification for incoming calls. It is a very strong vibration. It's way too damn strong and makes a lot of noise. I can't use these in the office because when a call comes in, it can be heard across the room (louder than a phone vibrating on a wooden desk/counter.). This function can't be turned of and does not turn of when you silence your phone. It's a deal breaker I never thought I'd have.

I haven't owned this particular brand but I have a lot of owner's experience with similar models made by Samsung, Motorola and, my personal favorite, LG Tones so can speak to the neck band design choice in general.

Having the speakers suspended from your neck spreads allows the engineers to use a larger rechargable battery and include other tech. enhancements which, when spread across a larger surface area like the neck, means it feels relatively weightless, compared to something suspended from the ear, and the ear buds can be listened to without a constant feeling of ear tugging.

Although a fixed head band type design has a relatively similar design choice in the weight aspect, this creates another issue as the center of gravity is raised above the major muscles of the head and neck making it far more noticeable and distracting especially if you're considering using these when your exercising or being active around the house; the head placement is not nearly as secure either making the headset design more susceptible to damage either directly or indirectly if it falls while bending over.

The neck is therefore optimal for ear buds and being placed far more proximal to the throat and mouth, results in the built in mic. (didn't check if these have any) to exceedingly clear and capable for phone calls.

Finally, and one of the biggest selling points for me as I'm pretty conservative in terms of dress, is that the neck band style is very easily hid by a collar and even by a crew neck as long as it's loose fitting.
I too initially was very reluctant to try the neckband style in part, I guess, because it was a little too similar for me to a necklace; many years later though, LG Tones are exclusively what I use for nearly everything and make cutting the lawn a delight Wink

The LG Tones 700s and 800s are around $30 for a pair of refurbs but I'd highly recommend you get them over these. The LG Tones are some of the highest rated even at their MSRP of over a $100 and they will be much better at pairing and audioquality so you're not constantly dropping connection which you'll be ready to throw the Tronsmart away after 30 minutes of the Bluetooth equivalent of static.
Good luck! Smilie

I've reviewed quite a few of their products in the past. They do have pretty descent product quality (IMHO) for car/phone accessories but as far as ANC goes, even the named brands don't do a very good job at that (HK being one of them). I wouldn't buy it for ANC at all
