It's bluetooth so it should work on PC, but you have many other choices including the Xbox one S or Steam Controller. Both are well supported in many games and roughly the same price. Unless you have a good reason to get this specifically I'd stay far away. I recall there being some bad reviews about the dpad, while the Xbox and Steam controllers have reviewed very well and are extremely well supported.

I've got a previous version of this game controller. It's decent. Seems to connect well, function suitably, etc. I also have some Xbox One S controllers and I prefer them--the ergonomics, feel of button presses, etc. is much better. I still use the fire tv game controller with my fire tv so I don't have to change any pairings, but for other android, PC or xbox devices, I prefer the xbox controllers.

Are there motion-based Fire controllers like with the Wii? Better yet, what wireless technology does the Fire use and if it's an open one has Amazon released an SDK to allow people to develop their own controllers? I've actually built several custom controllers, one with rocker switches and another motion-based. Both use RF24+ boards to communicate but they can be easily swapped out for WIFi, BT, etc.

Seriously? Where have you been? Tons of games for it, right off the home screen. It's impossible to miss. Every time my young nephews visit they load another few and I'm almost out of memory. I had to add parental control after they charged a game to my CC w/o telling me. Kids LOVE these things. The response time is decent, and even with the stick controller you can do a lot. With this controller it should be awesome.

Fire TV isn't really a big deal, let alone Fire TV games.

FireTV runs on Android technically, right? So would this work as a controller for my phone?

Xbox one S controller has bluetooth and the proprietary Xbox protocol, so you can pair it with anything. I've not tried connecting the Xbox one S controller with a Fire TV but I'd bet it would work. I'd personally suggest finding the Xbox dongle since it's a better connection if connecting to PC.

My post was in response to someone asking about using this on PC, there is not a good reason to get this for use with PC compared to using a Xbox One S or Steam Controller.

The fire tv 2nd generation was designed with some gaming intended. At that time, they were challenging the Shield. That is what this controller was intended for. They needed more RAM like the 3 gigs the shield has along with a gigabit ethernet port also like the shield has. So instead of beefing up the Fire TV to compete with the shield with more RAM, better ethernet port, and a 64-bit device and operating system, they went the other way with the Fire TV 3rd generation and gave it new processor, a lighter 32-bit operating system and made it a dongle to be hidden out of sight. The 3rd gen is a great streamer especially if you get an OTG and gigabit ethernet adaptor for it and remember to look for apps/APK that are designed for the Fire tv stick or for a 32-bit OS.
