Not really. The Note 8 is water resistant, not waterproof, big difference. You dunk your Note 8 over an extended period of time and it's going to be a $1000 paperweight. Note 8 is also considerably more expensive, also if you lose it it's going to be considerably more painful to replace. Also have you tried to use a touch screen through one of those plastic water proof cases... it doesn't work very well.

Nice deal. 5x optical that can shoot underwater and wifi...beats my old GoPro and it's annoying plastic housing. Also beats accidentally dropping my phone in the ocean 😀

I bought this one in Costoc a few months ago for $150, images are good not XT1/ Xpro 2 good, but more than happy. I use mine as a cheap camcorder on the beach (etc) rather than risk expensive kit. The body shape is nice much easier to hold than my smartphone.

I bought one of these a few years ago. I've used it in the snow, the ocean, and water parks. It's easy to use and takes decent pictures. I especially like the panoramic feature -- looks cool at the beach.

We are on our 2nd one of these type of camera. Our first died after a few too many free dives. They have upped the depth rating and megapixel count, since that one was purchased, so buying the newer model (this model) at $150 wasn't too horrible. It's pretty nice. Lots of scene modes that do a good job of the situation. Not pro gear by any means, but better than most smart phone photos and lots of options.

Underwater photos are good in shallow clear water. The flash is close to the lens, so you have flash issues at any depth. But for most photos at less than 20', this does a nice job.

I'd recommend you skip that package and put the savings toward a big SD card.
