I believe the poorer build quality was the main complaint.

CNET rated these their top in ear earbud for 2018. My wife and I both got them and love them. Can't beat for the price.

I actually have a pair and sound quality is better than most ear phones. I had anything from Shure SE110. UE Triple, Kilpsh x11, and so on. So my small ear, these buds are most comfortable, because it's not IME. They must be getting cheaper since Apple decided to go 3.5mm port less. I think it's worth the money. Natural warm tones.

Your iPhone should have included the adapter.
