Incorrect:
This was $649.99 during the last eBay 20% off promotion a couple of weeks ago though Best Buy.
I know this because I ordered one but subsequently returned less than 24 hours of receiving.

Still a good deal.

So, it was $750 then.
Thanks for proving lowest price claim
Yes this exact same model was $750. Best Buy knocked off $50.
The 20% coupon knocked it to $650... Free shipping and tax in Maryland. Ended up costing me $694.99 after tax.

Great price, but does seem to have thermally flawed design inside.

Disregard, posted a video on the 2017 model.

20% coupon and $100 maximum discount. Now do the math
You've made the critical mistake of assuming that Best Buy was selling the item on Ebay for MSRP, which they didn't, and the poster even said they got it for $650. Not rocket science here.

Identical cooling/thermal solution across both years models. The reviewer here confirmed that and also confirmed under load everything runs hot, but did not notice any crashes. Seems alright to me.

Battery life while gaming around 1 hour, so if your getting this for gaming while on the go without a power brick its not going to happen.

Pretty solid deal overall. The ability to have two HD's is a plus.

What's Acer's track record for laptops and supporting them? Warranty, etc.

I remember that back in the day, Acer was the budget option until the new CEO came around and wanted the company to be a more premium brand, and they seem to be successful.
