AT&T “Loyalty” Mobile Phone Deals

I was in the market to upgrade our old iPhone 6s's with AT&T, but ran into some roadblocks with the current promotions. I didn't want to add a line for a BOGO deal, and have no need for new services with U-Verse or Direct TV. I found an old thread on here about contacting AT&T's "Retention/Loyalty" department for possible resolutions. The end result, we were able to get two brand new iPhone X's (256gb) for $699.99 each with a 2-year commitment.

Dial 611 from your AT&T mobile service device and specifically ask for the "Retention" and or "Loyalty" department.

And over that two years, the line charge goes from $15 per month to $40 per month. I was offered the same deal but when you do the math, loyalty really isn't a reward and you really are not saving anything.

True. I returned my Galaxy S9 for the same reason. I would have paid $945 over 2 years with this deal had I not returned within 14 days (which is $250 higher that the current market value of the phone). Still waiting for the refund on the phone thought. Not worth anything. Got myself Pixel 2 XL instead. Tread with caution.

As Dazzza pointed out, you would lose any line discounts with the 2 year agreements. Not a good deal.

I have the old "Unlimited" plan, and it's staying with my current service. No changes. I paid for the two phones upfront. I'd have AT&T service regardless, because the other carriers are worthless in my area. I saved $400 per phone on average, by paying for them up front.

Check your plan online...and tell us if it's the same plan it was before you got the phones

They have a habit to change old legacy plans once you call to add anything to them

I have to concur that this is only a good deal if you are already on the Unlimited & More plan. I tried to do this while on a Mobile Share plan and they would charge an extra $20 per month to do a 2-yr contract on a phone. I was then run through a bait & switch where they told me I would pay less or the same if I switched to either of the unlimited & more plans to do the upgrade. But it actually was going to cost $87 more than our last bill, so I had to undo the plan switch and cancel our phone order.
