is it still accurate that if you use this where a Nutone intercom/doorbell was in place, you'll lose the intercom capability?

When taking costs into account, don't forget to consider the cost of the $5/mo. (or $50/year) subscription. Surprised that's not mentioned anywhere on the product page. Ring's subscription fee is $3/mo. (or $30/year). Skybell has no subscription fee.

Hi Ionizer,

Yes, iirc if you use the same wiring as the nutone did.

Also I have seen numerous videos that you may have some issues with the wiring from nutone setups when installing doorbell products.

I don't recall the details - looked like you have to do a little bit more work.

I installed one of these today after purchasing from Rakuten for a few bucks more a few days ago.

No complaints, though I suggest using a Google Home/Mini or smart home thing for the chime. Really useful and pretty hilarious if you put on face recognition.

If it is someone you don't like "douche is at the side door". Personally, I set mine for the mail man to be "Santa".

After using the Ring Pro for a year and replacing it with this, I recommend the Nest Hello over the Ring Pro.

Not compatible. The holes are completely different.

what do you like better about it? I was considering it as well.
My ecosystem is my Alexa than Google though.

I bought both and ended up returning the Nest. The bandwidth usage for Nest is way too much compared to Ring Pro.

Plus the Ring introduced the Ring Plus Subscription for $100/year that supports unlimited number of Ring devices at same address and includes professional monitoring now with ability to dispatch emergency services. The $3/month subscription is still cheaper for 1 device (compared to $5/month for Nest) but the $10/month (or $100/year) for unlimited number of devices can be cheaper if you plan to add a few floodlight cameras and bells around the property.

I heard the notification takes forever on Nest and the reset for motion takes 30 mins? I really wanted the Nest and their products seem easier to use but apparently there are a lot of issues with Nest which has me leaning towards the Ring system.

Had the Ring pro for over a year and recently switched to the Nest Hello. I cannot recommend the Nest more. I have not encountered any issues with alerts, the only downside is you cannot set motion zones directly from the Nest app, you have to do so via their website.

Nest has discounts for multiple cameras as well.
