I don't like the colorization fad. When the battle happened back in 1945, it happened in black and white. So much less authentic to see it in color.

​Actually, as demonstrated by the movie "Letters from Iwo Jima" the world was ever-so-slightly colored in 1945, but you are mostly right.

Don't worry. The color will fade if you leave it out in the sun a while. Then it'll look authentic again.

True story. I'm not very good with photo editing tools, so I use this trick all the time. I load up an SD card full of pictures that I want to add the grayscale effect to and leave it out in the sun for a few days. Maybe a few weeks during the winter months. I didn't realize that worked with movie files though. Good tip!

It's really well-known. Just look at the Civil War. More sun in the south...turned their uniforms gray. At the beginning they all wore blue.
