Shop at ebay (NewEgg store), use code for $15 off: PSUPERSUMMER

Only $1.88 more than previous Popular deal

Great replacement for PS4 drives. I have a 1TB version in mine.

sshd is the ssh daemon and it existed WAY before the drives. I hate that acronym for drives so much... it triggers warnings because of my server monitoring software. haha?

I opted for the 1TB version from a different seller (cheaper and no tax), and then added another item I was interested in to get to the $75 threshold to trigger the $15 off.

Also I used the link in the Samsung Pay app, so I'm getting an extra 1% back.

Would love an SSD at this price, but will give this some thought for extra drive space in my laptop.

Thanks OP

This is THE drive for a ps4 upgrade, i highly recommend it. We had 2 ps4 originals, but i bought a pro, and we decided to upgrade the wife's hd to this (the benefits of ssd on the ps4 are minimal compared to the space + price you get with these) and compare.

An original ps4 with one of these far outperform even the pro side by side. I upgraded my hd in the pro just a few months ago however and it's amazing. Frequent loads of the same game, this has nearly the same load times as an ssd without the limited space or giant price tag.

Any budget minded person who also wants performance, just buy a used ps4 original and swap this drive in and your golden!

Drive is kind of a gamble. I bought one for PS4 that would lag a little bit off and on. A little while later I tried another and it was good.

I believe that all PS4s except the Pro are SATA II, not SATA III, meaning that if you go with a full-on SSD, you wouldn't be getting the most performance out of it. Therefore something like this is significantly more bang for your buck (not to mention 1TB SSDs are still around $300).

I believe the 2.5" versions of these drives (like the one in this deal) are 5400 RPM (speed of a normal HDD), but what happens is after the initial load of a game/program, it gets stored in the flash memory portion. Meaning, yes, it is slow/average speed the first time. But after that, it will act almost like an SSD until you fire up a different game. You can use this in a desktop just fine; just know that you can get the fatter, 3.5" version that is 7200 RPM for a few bucks more on eBay with the same code.
