ps I have a feeling that one day before the code expires they will knock some off the start price. I recall one time in the past few months, on a different cpu, where they did a promo code, advertised it, then before it even expired, they had 1 day of it even lower. (I think that was on a cpu, anyway).

That's most likely accurate. Refurbforless has it for $290 (Brand New + FS).

Wonderful CPU. I replaced my 1600x with it, and that chip ran quite well, handled streaming well. Now my FPS is a bit more consistent while pushing 1080p 60 stream and it games well, all on one chip. Very ideal if you do not plan to use a dedicated stream box

There's a good Mobo on FP right now, I'd wait a few months for gpu though. Prices are steadily hitting retail or below on sales.

This.

Every build I do, the CPU and GPU were the absolute last things I bought, because the prices are so volatile. RAM seems to be like that currently as well.

RAM has stayed high, consistently for over a year. I finally gave in and bought 32gb trident z 3200 CAS 15 for around $340 (and got $40 off newegg gift cards in the process, but now screwed up and lost $10 of the $40, but that still comes out mighty close to $300... andddddddd then I had to pay tax, though lol).

And I got my gpu, the rx 580 form best buy for $230 AR and got $30 in discounts on best buy gift cards on that one, making it basically $200 plus tax.

So not horrible, considering how gpu and ram prices have been usually. Now I just need cpu and mobo. Thinking of buying this 2700x, but my ram is technically only listed on intel mobos....

Yeah looking at RAM prices Im not sure its going to come down, so Im looking to buy it sooner instead of later.

Even the CPU price probably wont get *that* much better anytime soon, that would be my next purchase.

Absolute last piece will be the GPU, especially with rumors of new releases and possible overproduction maybe driving down costs some.

Would I need a CPU Cooler in addition to the one this comes with? Or the one this comes with is good enough?

Trying to build a high end, video editing system (visual effects for movies and TV).

Stock is sufficient if you're not overclocking. Make sure you get 3200 RAM, though!

If I had it to do over, I think I'd have waited and maybe get an nvidea card... but oh well. I havent opened the rx 580, just claimed the rebate, so i guess I could sell it if I need to.

Btw, just an off topic point to people in here... everyone on here goes on and on about meltdown and spectre with intel and I was just reading where someone said the nature of those exploits means similar ones are probably in all manufacturers' cpus.
