Got a few cheap smartphones for the same reason 2 years ago , to trade in. But which program is taking them anymore? Last I remember is the sweet Verizon lg g4 deal. Haven't seen any after that.

Kit Kat. 512 MB RAM. 2GB (according to Walmart, maybe, possibly, 4GB) internal storage. 4" screen. Good luck being able to do anything on this phone in 2018.

I was debating on whether to trade in for $200 off Samsung S9 unlocked.

Can I use this simply for it's hotspot capabilities? I have an iPhone 7 on Straighttalk using AT&T network but it's hotspot is locked. I don't mind switching SIMs as I only need to use it 2-3 days a month

That's a bad idea, just get the us Cellular version for the same price and the free headphones and don't waste your time with the Samsung trade in scam.

Good as MP3 player... Decent cheap camera/surveillance camera... Good for texting even without service... Good for basic games/apps over wifi without service... Emergency phone can still call 911 without service... Load a wifi dealer on it and make free calls... Tons of reasons to have cheap cell phones around!

Nobody is trying to use these POS. He is talking about using them for trade in value at samsung.com. ironically these are the same exact phones we used last year only to find out Samsung takes these brand new phones and then rejects them saying wear and tear and charges you for the full price anyways.
