Hi 308

Don't think this is the same... this NVR is only able to handle 3MP cameras from what i recall seeing. You're should be able to handle better resolution iirc.

Hi Daak

1) You will need to check if it is legal for you to record audio in the state and situation you are planning.

2) The NVR will accept video with audio, just need to find cameras which have microphones included or able to attach to it.

Heads up, I have a unit almost identical to this one, the kit is different from one number, but the app kinda sucks. You can't see your live feed if you're using your 4G network, only wifi....unless im doing something wrong but I emailed service and they are SLOW in responding. They're response was make sure you have this checked off and this checked on or power recycle your dvr and router. And that still didn't fix the issue. Other than that the cameras work perfectly

FYI - recall reading some mobile phone service providers were problematic with live views on systems ( t-mobile? verizon? don't recall which one right now ).

They maybe doing this to discourage people from streaming video from services like Netflix to your phone w/o netflix or similar paying extra $ or something along those lines.

I would test this possibility by testing w/a VPN application on your phone and then seeing if you can see the live stream.

Remember local wifi to your phone should be faster than up through the "cloud" to your cell phone provider, and back down to your phone.

Not true you have it configured wrong or are using the wrong app. I have a similar system and have no problems streaming through 4G through Verizon.

You need to do port forwarding on your router. And you need to use your external IP address when connecting to the camera. This IP is different than your internal IP

Can you configure it to work with a cloud service? or Dropbox etc.?.

Also, Is it just me or all this market is kind a stupid? If you just cut the electricity, all the cameras stop working (they need the network to work/record).
Even Arlo with the batteries can't record if you don't have network ... Am I missing something? All those thieves are that stupid? LMAO

That's just added hassle to go through to try to disable things. They are just going to find an easier target. If they decide to go through all that hassle, it's added steps that will only leave more room for error and honestly if they go through all that hassle, they are wasting their time at my house as I barely have anything worth stealing. Plus they would have to cut things at the street level to get to point to cut my system down without being recorded. But then disguises I suppose work as well. But in the end, it's just something to help not necessarily be an end all.

but wifi cams are possibly the worse as you can easily jam their signals. wired with online storage or at least hidden storage.

I use a different diy system and I have no issues with watching a live feed of my system. Maybe it's just a port that they might be blocking?
