Disregard the outdated info on Fry's website, it's been confirmed this is in fact an i5-8250u with MX150.

Pros:
Small bezels
Aluminum chassis
Can upgrade to an SSD 2.5 or M2
Lowest price currently for a metal 15.6 1080p IPS with a discrete graphics laptop(?)

Cons:
No backlight on the keyboard
Comes with a 5400rpm HD
No USB-C charging
No touchscreen

I can't find a review yet on this current build. However here's a review of their previous gen with the i7-7500U 940MX. I'm assuming the chassis and panel will remain the same for this 8th gen build.

This one or the 14" with touchscreen from walmart for the same price? Are they the same performance wise so only difference is the size and touchscreen?

I also have the 14 (started the previous thread, it's still available. Dunno why the mods moved it to Deal Talk) Link

The 14" differences:
Touchscreen
Glossy
256gb SSD
USB-C charging
Backlit keyboard
No dedicated GPU

The CPU performance between the Ryzen and i5 are similar. The MX150 is a bit more powerful than the Vega8 on the 14. They should have similar build quality.

It would be nice to be able to confirm if the HDMI port is 2.0.

This one would theoretically be better on the gpu and cpu front. The thermal profile might have some limitations but not sure how they would compare to the amd one. I personally would buy this one if near a frys. There are none near me. Hopefully this deal spreads to other outlets.

This dGPU is the slower variant of the mx150, neck and neck with Ryzen's Vega iGPU.

Up until now I was only aware of 13.3in models containing the slower variant. Where did you get the confirmation of the slower variant?

I'm going to add it to the gaming laptop list that I'm updating and it helps to know which has which.

This deal was mentioned in the $699 B&H thread. I noticed then that Fry's site is really bad. They mention the specs as NV 940 and 7th Gen Intel. These specs don't match up with the model.

If it is the actual specs that the model info brings up elsewhere, I'm still not happy with no backlighted keyboard, FP reader or SSD. Another negative that I heard is that the RAM is soldered in? That alone would be a deal breaker, given it's only 8GB.

It seems the 13.9 version is a more up to date and upgraded offering.

I picked up the 14" from Walmart tonight. Very happy with it so far. No bloat on the windows is so refreshing coming from an Hp laptop. Thanks to everyone for the advice and the posts here.

Anandtech mentions this for the Matebook X Pro -- my assumption given form factor is that this would be no different but it is just an assumption:
