too loud.... had one and it drove me nuts. Frown but if I didn't care about the noise, it was great... nice and cold... ready to chill the room within 5 minutes after unboxing.

Thank you! Did you purchase an alternative that you would recommend?
I've been searching for days for a portable unit in case my air goes out (and I won't risk it bc I have dogs).

I purchased this for a fairly big bedroom during the eBay 20% off sale for the same $199 price. The unit has been awesome:

Living in MN where it is hot and humid in the summers, most of the time Dehumidifier mode is all I need to cool the room sufficiently, w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ ̶u̶s̶e̶s̶ ̶a̶ ̶f̶r̶a̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶e̶n̶e̶r̶g̶y̶. edit: this is actually misinformation I read from several reviews, I tested this with a HS110 energy monitoring plug, dehumidifier mode has similar/same energy usage as normal A/C mode. I had no idea Dehumidifier mode would be able to emit ice cold air, I thought it would work like a traditional dehumidifier.

The unit was louder than I thought, but I am totally used to it now. I can sleep through it no problem now.

There is a bit of air leakage where the exhaust hose connects to the back of the unit. This is not a defect with my particular unit, it's just by design (or lack thereof). This was easily fixed with some packing tape I had laying around. Might try HVAC tape later.

Overall, this was one of the best purchases I've made. I can actually run modern games and run audio equipment without creating 80 degree temperatures in my room at night.

Be aware that because this is a reconditioned unit, it will not come with the storage bag for the unit itself, the storage bag for accessories, the drainage hose, nor the wall mount receptacle for people looking to route the exhaust hose through a wall. Also, this seller is not an authorized seller via Delonghi (I called to confirm), but the unit appears to be reconditioned via authorized parties given that the owner's manual is specifically for the reconditioned version. I took the risk anyways due to this sellers generous return policy. My unit arrived indiscernible from new, but the shipping guy had it upside down. Refer to the owner's manual regarding this (you have to let it sit upright for X hrs or preferably 24hrs before starting it to let oil settle). I would message the seller and request that he puts a "This side up" sticker or mark it with a marker on all four sides of the box.

Is it dual hose? Does it come with the window exhaust kit?

I purchased this new from Costco. Very loud and didn't cool effectively. I think there are so many of these Delonghi models showing up as refurbs for a reason: they're terrible air conditioners.

They're one of the better brands, thus the reason costco carries them in the first place. "Didn't cool effectively", meaning what exactly? Was it not able to cool a small or medium sized room? Or what kind of space were you trying to cool? It's likely you had a defect if it failed to cool an enclosed room. Mine looked so new it had to have been DOA. I bet these refurbed units are more reliable than when this unit was new to the market BNIB, lol. Maybe they had a huge batch that were defective one year?

This thing cools my bedroom/studio with two high end PCs and audio equipment in like 10 minutes.

Yeah, if you try to use it in too big of a space it won't work well. I tried it in an 800 square foot area and it was really lousy. Alternatively I put in a large window unit 15000 btu 115v in and it cools the heck out of my small house.

If you're trying to cool an entire house, this is a use case where dual hose is required imo. In this case, the shortcoming where a single hose draws in as much outside air that it puts out as cold air is exacerbated by the fact the cold air is not concentrated in any particular room.

In my case, I am just trying to cool a room that gets inadequate cooling during the evening because the house is cooler downstairs so the air doesn't need to kick on. This room also has a random vent that is not used for AC nor heat that routes to the basement where the air is much colder, so the single hose design isn't a big deal in this case.

And obviously, if your windows allow for it, always opt for a window unit. Much cheaper and more efficient. I have casement windows, so a portable air conditioner is the only option.
