I was able to snag this tv for $549.99 on clearance at walmart. Took them a while to get it as it was buried but definitely well worth it! I was ready to pull the trigger at 949, but 549 was a no brainer.

Here's rtings comparisons between the E1 and new F1 model:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...eshold*0.1

F1 ('18) does get much brighter now for HDR, E1 ('17) has better local dimming to get much better contrast. Color gamut/volumne are improved some on the newer F1 model. F1 model has much lower input lag in HDR gaming.

Tough call for the F1 at $1,139 (5% coupon vizio website) vs. this at $949. You could argue the $190 more is money well spent. On the other hand the E1 still has a nie advantage in local dimming/contrast.

Been watching this at my local WM. They have it marked as an M65 @ $998 (with an actual M65 marked at $848). Anyway, looks like a WM a little further away has a couple @ $549 so thanks for reminding me to check!

Just saw the p-f1 at best buy and it looks really good. I would say it looks marginally better than the Sony 900f. Just my 2 cents.

why upgrade to 4k tv when there's not a lot of 4k content.
My TV went out, 4k TV's are pretty cheap compared to what I paid for my Samsung 1080p 7 years ago. There's actually a lot of 4k content on Netflix I found out today when I hooked this TV up and was messing around. Lots of Dolby Vision HDR content. For gaming, Playstation 4 Pro looks great for the few minutes I messed around with it after setting up the TV. I wasn't planning on upgrading until this November but happy that this TV was below $1k. I will say for anyone who says this TV isn't bright, must have bad vision. Coming off my Samsung 60in Plasma circa 2011, this TV is very bright and the colors are amazing. I haven't seen the P65-F1, but honestly doubt that I would need the extra brightness.

You must just watch cable tv?

4K is one thing. HDR is the real game changer. Plenty of both now too.

Well if you plan on watching an OTA stuff you can with the 2018 models now. That's one big reason why I returned the 2017 to get the 2018 Vizio.
