Not a bad deal, reviews are lower for this model. But the build quality did get a 8.0 Smilie
$699 retail price

my TCL tv is great, but it is glitchy.. software updates seem to break stuff that doesn't get fixed for a long time.. for 2 months now my chromecast and harmony hub haven't been able to turn it off.. my receiver shuts off and TV stays on... since Ive owned it (almost a year) about once a week I have to restart it becase it stops communicating with my receiver to change volume.

Mediocre deal. This was $400 on rakuten with $100 back in points not too long ago.

I got one then. I do like it and the bezel is very nice.

If I was looking for a decent TV around $500, should I grab this deal or is there a better one out there coming up for around $500 price point?

I live in Vegas, and have the 65" version of this I bought a couple months back. If anyone buys this deal and wants to do a trade. Like this 55" + $150 for my 65", I'm down. Honestly, 65" is too large for my studio apartment.

Let me know if you're in Vegas and wanna do the trade..

This has Dolby Vision. Try finding that on a TV under $500 right now.. Good luck..

Not to mention, the build quality and audio is better than most. I don't need external speakers to hear the dialog, like I do on most other TV's. This thing is also THIN.

how does this compare to the 49S405 besides the obvious screen size 49 vs 55? I bought the Rakuten 49inch deal 2 days ago, but i do really want a 55inch instead... thoughts?

Agreed, the style and build is in fact better than the P Series. What about the local dimming though? Do you think it'll matter? That's the only reason I'm holding off on if it would affect the picture quality. Otherwise, I'd like to get this one!

In other posts with the 65", others were asking about that and worried. HONESTLY, I don't have any light spots on the sides. I just finished playing Resident Evil 7, which is mostly a dark game. Not to mention, I watch a lot of horror films where most of it is dark the whole time, and I love this tv.

My only issue, as mentioned above, is the software is a little glitchy.. but that's because this is like a giant cell phone. If I don't restart my cell phone at least once a week, apps freeze up. It's been that way with all 30 phones I've owned. So the 2 times in 3 months this has froze on me, I used the option built in to "hard reset" the tv. It doesn't erase any of your settings or apps.. it just basically clears the cache and restarts the tv..

Thanks! I think I'll give it a shot at this price. Is the 2 year protection plan worth it by any chance? I know its like insurance but curious to know if its required. I wonder if a better credit card would help instead for warranty and stuff.

I would use a credit card with the protection. I have never had a TV go bad in two years. I had an old Westinghouse back in 2011, that went bad @ 2.5 years. Luckily, I bought the Walmart 3 year plan. They used Sears(believe it or not) to come out and change out the board.

As mentioned in previous posts, I was a trainer for Samsung for all of NV. Back in 2015ish, Sammy held 52% market share in TV's above 42". All other companies combined for 48%. That's why when you go into Best Buy, most the open box TV's are Samsung. The thing is, the TV's were great, but most people don't understand that you have to calibrate the tv out of the box. Samsung TVs are one of the worst out of the box, so most consumers return em. Then the sales reps point at the pile of returned TV's and pitch the extended warranty(Geek Squad service). So they were pitching on false claims of why the TV's were returned.

My point is, FOR ME it's not worth it.. especially at this price point.

You can get that model with a 2-year warranty on the same coupon code for $598, lowest price I've ever seen for it. I'm still holding out for $500 personally
