Sears: Spend $125, get back $125 (possible $176, free stuff after CB)

I bought a bunch of tools a few weeks ago when Sears was doing the $50 on $125 that I had yet to open. I thought I did well until I saw this. I hadn't opened anything yet so I just went back tot he store and returned everything and rebought with this new promotion. I had 3 orders so ended up with an additional $225 ($375 total) and only spent about $400. *edit* Just noticed I actually got $176 in points back on my new orders which means this became a money maker for me. *edit*

Actually, I was mistaken... I got $176 dollars per order (not sure why). So its actually about $530 dollars cash back on $400 in purchases. Dope!

Why are these deals getting thumbs down? Is it because of fear they will go out of business? Can points only be spent at Kmart or Sears?

Anyone know a good options trade to hedge on lost points if sears went belly up?

Especially when the $50 back on $125 got 4 thumbs a few weeks ago.

It's because the points are given 15$ within 24 hours and the rest is given 10$ every 15th of the month for the next 11 months. These also expire every 30 days so you won't see it all together in your account.

Tools that used to give $50 back on $125 now give the $50 AND the $125.

Just look at the sears.com webpage. Any of those $back deals combine with the $125.

My doubt about this page is the triple use of the $125. The $50 back is good 3x, that I knew. The $125 though, I thought that was 1x only. [edit] Just checked and the $125 is hidden from me. It is 1x only. I predict that the OP will have $250 pulled back out of his account. If you order quickly enough you can put in multiple orders before the system recognizes that you have used up a promotional offer. Later, the points are removed.[/edit]

Personally, I think that when Sears gives up all the stores they'll still try the online business so points will carry over. They want to be Amazon... they've spent billions trying to make it happen and their latest moves prove they're dedicated to the idea. ( They give SYW points back on marketplace sales!). It's not as bad a bet as everyone thinks.
