Are there still reliability problems with the Surface? Hear they don't last for longer than a year.

I've had my Pro 4 for almost two years and still going strong.

If you stress it everyday playing games for hours or what not, then yes, the probability of it failing goes up very much. It's simply because there is just not much cooling for the whole unit being as thin as it is. Keeping it running cool and taking care of it will do a lot in its longevity.

Get a regular laptop if you're planning to keep it longer than two years, if anything fails inside the surface, it's a brick.

If only it were a gen 8 processor...

The new i3 8130u is more powerful than all 7th gen i5s and also the 2 core i7s...

Probably why it's on sale. To get rid of old inventory.

How much lower it will be come black Friday. This is my benchmark. If 600 then maybe worth the wait. If 700 then if you need it - buy it now

Just over 3 years with my Surface 3 (not Pro). Started developing the yellow lines around the border about 6 months ago when turned on with brightness above 25% for more than like 10 minutes. Still usable, but for a $600 purchase, I would expect a little better longevity on something I maybe use 2 hours a day.

I can only imagine something with a more powerful processor and fans going would have an even higher chance of having issues.
