Yes. This Laptop from HP comes with SSD + HDD configuration as well. the current SSD is a M.2 22x80 one and the 2.5" drive bay is empty.

What is good about the 2018 Budget Laptops is that they does not look like chunky sheet of Plastic with poor ugly design. HP Pavilion series, Dell Inspiron 5000 Series and Lenovo Ideapad 300 / 300S series released this year, are coming with partial metal build, Thin Display bezels looks pretty solid. This Pavilion series which happens to be the cheapest series from them, took the Design queue from Envy and Spectre series, with very narrow bezel display, good ergonomics, properly spaced Keyboard layout. Pretty versatile offering in my opinion, 14" Screen size, Windows Ink Support for Drawing, note taking, 2-in-1 design, SSD and slot for extra 2.5" drive, good for School and college folks.

No, you cannot. And befor posting some smart comments, I strongly suggest you get your facts correct. let me explain why

First of all, you are confusing Dell Inspiron 7472 (14") and 7572 Narrow bezel standard Business laptops with the 7000 and 5000 Consumer series 2-in-1 Laptops.
There is no 14" 2-in-1 Laptop from Dell. Not sure from where you are getting that information.
Cheaper Dell Inspiron 5000 series 13.3" 2-in-1 Model is close to this model's price but even being a 13.3" model, they weight the same as this 14" model, has pretty thick bezel compared to this and lacks Type-C Port.
Costlier 13.3" 7000 series 2-in-1 weights the same but same configuration will cost you around $650 or higher.

So, next time, before posting your erroneous, misinformed and baseless claims, do a bit research

With the 2.5" slot, does that mean it has an empty drive bay?

Is this one of the HPs that requires you to take 80% of the laptop apart to get to the drive bay and memory slot?

I've been looking for a 13-14 inch laptop in this price range and these specs seem solid. We need a school laptop for my son and this should work nicely. Reps to you OP!

thanks. yeah typical HP bullshit but still doable

but looks a bit easier than the Pavilions i bought my parents a few years ago, so i guess HP made things a little better. i had to remove basically everything minus the screen lid to make the upgrades and there must have been a dozen different screw types to keep track of. the SSD and memory upgrade video on that laptop was 1 hr 29 mins

This one is not that hard. But apart from back cover, you need to remove the Keyboard as well.

Yes, still a deal. If you want 2.5 lbs for a 14" laptop, spend $1000 and get a Dell XPS 13. I was going to explain but understood that you will not understand anyway.

dell 13-14" 7000 series 2 in 1 can be had for similar price. in fact similar specs and much sexier looking. some may even say dell > hp

You can get a Surface laptop well under that price, and weighs only around 2.6 pounds.
