This does require adding a new line to Verizon but you have no need to keep service bc it's one time payment. No bill credits, no contract, period. Price Mistake.

I don't believe Verizon will let you activate if you don't already have an iPhone 5 or newer on your Verizon account but YMMV. If you are able to get a new account going with them it will require a hard credit check

MAKE SURE YOU SELECT ONE TIME PAYMENT
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Advice from Original Poster JimmyJ7295 ApplauseApplause
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117121943&postcount=433
-Everyone who got the deal needs to activate with the pamphlet you were given and cancel the line or else it will be stuck in purgatory as an order pending on their account and you still will be billed for the service on the next bill and no one you give it to will be able to activate it on Verizon. Also you won't be able to make any changes to your account either (plan changes, etc)
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117115391&postcount=231
-You can't cancel a line until the line is active, it's standby until you do. There is no contract regardless.
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117115415&postcount=233
The service will still be billed regardless, you just won't be able to see the device anywhere except the bill until its turned on because it's in standby. There is still an activation fee anyways.
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117115251&postcount=223
-It will not show up on there (Verizon bill) until the device is powered on and activated.
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117114215&postcount=158
-It is not contracted. It is one time payment. The message that everyone is whining about shows up no matter what option you select if you order on bestbuy.com and log into your Verizon account. There is no ETF, you do not have to keep service. Period.

What JimmyJ7295 said could be true. A couple of years ago I got in on an iPhone deal. One of the lines did not activate. Nothing showed up for me and I thought it was all good. When I ported out all my lines, my account did not close out. THAT unactivated line showed up as due. Luckily I was able to get the Verizon rep to cross check with a BBY rep and everything was good after an hour or so. This happened to me...don't know if it could happen to anyone else but what JimmyJ7295 "may" be true.

I wanted to confirm they weren't going to charge me through my VZW account for the mistake. This way I have it in writing (if that means anything). If I don't activate it, I'm never charged the $30 fee....
You
Hi, I just purchased a new Apple watch through verizon/best buy. Best buy said to activate it through Verizon. I don't plan on using it immediately, is there any penalty for not activating now?
Verizon
Oh good question!
Verizon
I will go over the details of activating a line and give you options.
Verizon
I appreciate your patience waiting on the line. Let's resolve your concern as quickly as possible.
Verizon
And to answer your question, none at all. you can choose to activate it anytime you wish.
You
Is there any penalty if I don't activate it within a certain period of time?
Verizon
None at all.
You
ok, thanks. And the person at Best Buy told me the device was paid in full and I would have no future device payments for the watch. That is correct, right?
Verizon
That is correct!
You
He mentioned there may be a $30 activation fee. Do I pay that now or when I choose to activate it?
Verizon
Good question, you will have to pay it upon activating the device on the account.
Verizon
Meaning, you won't be charge for the fee untill you activate it.

Wish2BeAnonymous here. I would like to add how I closed the line and got the activation fee refunded without opening the box. The device was added to my account today and I had the following chat with Verizon. I'm planning to gift it to non verizon user, so I didn't want to open the box.

Verizon
Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless Chat Team regarding your device. How can we help you today?
You
Hi I recently bought two apple watches. I would like to cancel the line as I do not plan to use the cellular service for the apple watch
Verizon
Hi. Thank you for waiting. That's not good! I hate to hear you're looking to disconnect the Apple Watch. I can definitely look at all of your options- thanks for reaching out!
Verizon
Does one of your numbers end in 5258?
You
Yes. My phone number ends with 5258
Verizon
Thank you. I am pulling your account up now.
Verizon
I do see both Apple Watches on your account and you mentioned that you do not plan to use it with cellular service. Did you want that for both or just one of the watches?
You
I would like to cancel the line on both the watches
You
BTW I spoke to a chat agent a couple of days back and he said that activation fee will be waived if I cancel within few days
You
Can you please make sure that the activation fee is waived or refunded
You
Thank you.
Verizon
I am working on this for you now. I can also check on the activation fee for you.
Verizon
I will need a few minutes to get this set up
You
Thank you Erin. Take your time
Verizon
You're welcome.
Verizon
With disconnecting the watches, it will no longer have the number share option available. You can still use the watches with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. They will be disconnected as of today.
Verizon
I am checking on the activation fees now
You
Great Erin. Thanks
Verizon
You're welcome. The activation fees were auto credited by the system since they were canceled within the first three days. You will see the charge but you will also see the credit for the same amount on the next bill.
You
great. Also will I be charged $10 line charges for the first month?
Verizon
They were both set up today so on your next bill, if there are any line access fees it will just be for one day, it will not be the full charge for it.
You
Great. Thanks.
You
You provided a wonderful service. Have a good day.
Verizon
You're welcome.
Verizon
Do you have any further questions or concerns I may assist you with?
You
Nope. Bye
Verizon
It's been a pleasure assisting you today! My name is Erin and I hope you have a great day! Thank you for chatting with Verizon Wireless! Please click the "X" or "End Chat" button to end this chat.

I can answer most of the questions asked by everyone about the requirements to get this deal, as I know both a Verizon Best Buy area manager, and Verizon reps as well. The requirements are for Apple watches as a whole, and not specific to this deal. I also have both Best Buy and Verizon receipts showing pending line activations.

1. Have an active Verizon line with IPhone SE, 6, or higher, on either a shared Unlimited plan, or shared data plan. Cannot be a grandfathered unlimited plan or shared min plan.

2. $10 a month line charge to share number with iPhone. Every watch has to be connected to an iPhone line, and only 1 watch per iPhone at a time. There is NO contract requirement as Apple Watches cannot be sold with a contract, and is restricted within the system. No contract = cancel whenever = no ETF. This was verified as well with activation receipt from Verizon after order with No contract checked and 1 and 2 yr blank

3. Activation fee of $30 will show up on next statement

4. Checked multiple receipts and compared it to one's where I bought a phone, and where it would show Device payment amount and length of payments there is nothing listed. My account also shows 0 device payments on my online account.

5. Not all in stock for shipping or pick up. You might have to try a few different models and see what your options are. Inventory different depending on where you live. The $430 one showed me 0 stock in 250 miles, but free 2 day shipping. The $800 one showed no shipping, store pickup only. There were only 2 left in my area, and fortunately they were both within 50 miles.

My orders have a delivery date of Tuesday, and I am picking up my store ones tomorrow. Will update when I have devices in hand.

Really wishing I had Verizon instead of AT&T right now.

Edit: So my iPhone with AT&T is unlocked since it's paid off, would I be able to start a prepaid service with Verizon, add one extra line to get the watch and then cancel to keep the device?
