Home Theater

I am looking for some guidance on learning how to select the home theater receiver and speakers? How do I find out if a speaker will work with a receiver? What are the supplies I will need. New setup for the basement.

It is a lot more complicated than just the equipment (though that is a big part of it). You need to know your budget, the size of the room and figure out the layout and type of setup you can install\want to install first (for example, in wall speakers or floor standing\wall mounted, 5.1 or 7.1, how many zones, how difficult will it be to run speaker wires (esp to the rear speakers, etc). Once you have all that figured out, you can comb through reviews and pick a set of equipment that is likely to fit in your budget. My 2 cents.

Start with a budget. 1/3 for the receiver and the rest for speakers, cables, wiring, and misc. Research and find the best bang for the buck.

Edit: What Yanks said laugh out loud

1) I need a good receiver recommendation and I would like wall mounted speakers. How do you rate TSR-7810 7.2?
2) How do you compare yamaha and Denon
3) One question what is Atmos config? adding a ceiling facing speaker to the front L and R?
