I really want a Show to be able to ask "how should I prepare this dry aged steak?" And have a video pop up. I know YouTube doesn't work so I'm concerned it isn't capable enough to be handy in the kitchen. Thoughts?

If it's anything like the firetv and stick it will have the web browser built in that searches for that immediately(silk browser). Have had no issues with it playing videos on those fwiw

I have one in my kitchen and while it's fine for timers a $39 Dot would do just as well.

For this to be truly useful in the kitchen someone - Amazon or a skill developer - needs to come up with a way that I can enter my own recipes into the Alexa interface on my PC and then call them up while I'm cooking. Doesn't have this capability now and the recipes it does have generally aren't what I'm interested in.

It does a great job, though, if someone is at my Ring doorbell while I'm cooking. I can ask it to show me the front door and it shows the feed from the doorbell. So that's okay. The sound is good and the display is good. For $129 it's probably worth it - that's a big discount on what I paid for mine.

laugh out loud I have the same issue. I keep putting it off thinking maybe it would be lower ON Prime Day... but eh. Maybe even if it is, there's a chance Amazon would do a price adjustment thru chat.

Good price. However you should note that there have been <$200 for 2 deals in the recent days

Office Depot had 2 for $180 the other day

Price mistakes though? Would be great if 90 was common. I'm debating picking up a used one for 100...

I believe there's a work-around for that. It's frustrating that it's required, but in case you really want youtube back on there, I believe it can be sideloaded.

This takes it down to the same price as the echo spot. Does the Show display a nice clock like the Spot when inactive?

I've always wondered about this. Does it respond quickly enough where you can see the person at the door or will that person already be on their way off the porch? I use a Kuna and by the time I get my app up and the video loaded, the guys already gone.
