Wow. That's crazy. I wonder if someone sharp with coding or routers could figure out what its sending? I was tempted, but not after reading that if it's true.

WARNING:

Every single review on that product page is for something else.

Neither the single pack nor the double pack have any reviews on that product page, when you limit by format to either one. I'm not claiming this means anything specific except that it's very deceitful when companies reuse an old product page to jack up the review score for something new like this. It may be a perfectly fine product (although I personally stay away from any of these WIFI switches that require app installation from unknown companies/etc to use, and may be vulnerable to various network based attacks, compared to zwave/zigbee products which are better isolated).

I'm not sure where you got this from. I searched google and amazon, not a single article about it.

I would agree if you said it may be data leak from the app. If you are afraid I would buy ZigBee or zwave

Here's a shot from my own personal Google WiFi OnHub:

I uninstalled the required app from my phone to see if it would change, but the device kept uploading ungodly amounts of data. I took it out of my wall.

edit: here's another shot I just took right now, showing it kept uploading even after I uninstalled the app. I unplugged it a few days ago: https://i.imgur.com/fPirNsg.jpg

Multiple gigabytes of data being uploaded is obviously not just when you turn your lights on and off. These are wifi-connected so who knows what they're pulling off of your network.

You nailed it, thank you for alerting us. How do you know it didn't dump some malware on your router, you know with the recent VPN filter attacks, etc.
Any wizards want to venture a guess what the malware from this switch could capture?
