Personally, I wouldn't spend in this ballpark without it being a 9 channel receiver to allow for 4 ceiling Atmos speakers. I find it unlikely that most consumers will ever need anything close to the full 200+ watts per channel of this receiver versus those that cost half as much when on sale. Those receivers do usually have fewer HDMI inputs though, if that matters to you. But for me 4 is plenty.

The link is for the VSXLX502

The SC-LX502 is a totally different animal. It is a better class of receiver.

Fry's website says VSXLX502 but when you go to specification it shows UPC 889951001003, and that UPC is for SC-LX502.

Also try to google for VSXLX502. You will find that this model exist only at Fry's.

I also have the 501 which is the predecessor to this. Runs very cool with 4 ohm speakers. My only gripe is the Mcacc is very basic. I feel that Audessy does a much better job. I think next time I will go for a Denon.

I'd buy the 502, great price and great features compared to the Onkyo. You'd have to spend more than retail for a class D amp in the Onkyo brand. Pioneer/Onkyo now the same company.

What do you mean by more than retail? If this is a class d what class is the onkyo nr676. Can you please list the great features this has that the nr676 doesn't please. What is the parallel model of this in the onkyo. Sorry I'm. A noob in the amp. Scene.. Any help is much appreciated will rep. Cheers
