If you don't mind an almost 24 hr layover in Shanghai, then this is something to think about.

Air China has round trip airfares travelling from Los Angeles (LAX) to Dubai United Arab Emirates (DXB) for $680, making 1 stop in Shanghai China for possibly up to 24 hrs. Norwegian Air have a slightly cheaper flight with fewer dates but Air China has 1st and 2nd checked bag free compared to Norwegian.

Travel Availability:

Departs Oct 3, 16-19, 21-31; Sundays thru Thursdays in Nov
Returns Oct 10-12, 21-27, 30-31; Weekdays in Nov with some Saturdays and no Sundays. Generally a 7-day stay works.

Use dates and book it on Expedia [expedia.com]. Bundling hotel with airfare will save money. If you do not see the dates you want, go to Air China's site and use their search system with "flexible" travel. It will pull up a calendar like the image shown. Airline Website [airchina.us]

yeah, I'd double check but if u don't have a Chinese visa, you can get a temporary 24 hr one at the airport if you're on a long layover. I actually took a similar flight last year to Dubai with a 20 hr layover in Beijing. China Air set us up with a hotel and th next day we just booked a van and did a day tour of the city before heading back to the airport. A few of us didn't have the Chinese visa and were able to get one there (again, double check this).

Actually a China transit visa is up to 144 hours. You'll be fine. However, I can only find 24 hours in Beijing, not Shanghai.

Is this a general good deal to Dubai? What's the off-season pricing normally?
