Same here. I'd buy with coupon. Ugh.

That was a $10 coupon. So, without that, this is a pretty solid deal.

Come on.
Is that the only part you are looking and ignoring the rest of the configuration?

HP is by far the worst when it comes to hardware quality and lifespan of the system itself. Hinges fail, battery and heating issues persist, and non-replaceable memory also shows errors. Its as if the system was designed to simply enter EOL right after the warranty expires. Even the overall general consensus of the notebook user community agrees in the same.

A friend of mine had an HP, hinges failed after opening and closing during a given year, her friend's HP laptop's battery died within a year and would no longer hold a charge, trackpad and keyboard suddenly stopped working (this was for the Spectre 13)

If its not hardware quality, then its quality control which is a problem at HP's end. I believe they use Paragon technology as their suppliers out in the Shenzhen province (Guangzhou) of China

I almost thought of trying out a Spectre 15z myself, but these college students reminded me to look elsewhere for a quality notebook https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...s/emot-LOL.gif
This is HIGHLY dependant/subjective upon the product line in HP's portfolio. Their Pavilion and G-series line is junk. The ZBook, EliteBook, Spectres, etc, all use different parts and QA processes than their standard consumer/retail offerings.

Stop buying into shitty mobile processors. If you don't need the laptop form-factor for workstation purposes, don't get one. You're gonna be plugged in for gaming anyway.

CPU Benchmarks
i7-8705G: 10363
i7-8700K: 16004
Ryzen 7 1800X I got for $200: 15417

Laptops are nothing but compromise. Get a portable desktop with better performance, cooling/thermals, affordability, and upgradeability.
And you get your head checked as soon a possible. Looks like powering your portable Desktop on the go from your central nervous System, screwed it badly.

This looks so tempting..... I already placed an order for the MateBook X Pro i7 model, which hasn't been shipped yet.

The specs on this HP spectre look amazing. What would you guys prefer? Should I stick with the matebook or get this instead?

Everyone's experience is unique, but personally I have had a perfect experience with HP. In fact they're the only brand I've owned that has lasted way beyond the lifecycle of the device.
