Not a single comment on this? I was thinking about getting it for a budget video/photo editing machine, but was waiting for people to comment on what is good and what is bad. That's how I learn Smilie. So, what is wrong with this machine?

Decent. It's hard to build an identical one for the cost of parts alone, especially if you have to shell out a full hundred bucks for your windows license. I can't comment on reliability but pretty good for the price.

In response to a previous post on here, you can totally pick up a Windows 10 Pro license for next to nothing if you look around online. Check eBay as there are plenty of sellers within the $5 - $10 range.

Nothing wrong with this for a budget video/photo editing machine I've been looking for the same. I'm not a gamer but need a system that won't choke editing video. This one has the goods: a reasonably powerful processor, a dedicated graphics card, a solid state drive that's large enough to hold the operating system plus a few more programs/apps and the videos in progress. The drive will no doubt fill up quickly and Acer is known for shipping with lots of bloatware which doesn't help but you can fix that by 1. uninstalling bloatware and 2. using a 3.0 external storage drive (or even a SD card left in the card reader) for your videos/photos and large files.Comes with 8GB RAM which isn't a lot these days but because the graphics card has 2GB of its own, all the RAM should be availible for the CPU and it is pretty fast DDR4 RAM whereas some systems are still shipping with DDR3, so I think you'd be okay. For someone with your needs who doesn't want to have to go in and upgrade the drive, RAM, and video, immediately its good. Plus it is a new system with warranty from a legit authorized Acer retailer, this could be an excellent choice. Anything cheaper will be a refurb and/or need upgrades. Anything more expensive won't really be an advantage given your needs/budget. All best to you.

how good of a gamer is this for a 16 year old? Budget for the gift is $800 total so any alt recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you so much! That was very helpful! Now the question is, is this a slick deal? or should I wait a little longer for a better deal (since I am not in hurry)?

You can catch it for cheaper when ebay has their sitewide sales because Newegg sells them on there too.
