I guess people buy this for the brand? Otherwise the Vizio P-series is simply better and cheaper.

I recently met a TV repair man and he gave me advice to never buy Vizio. He said that he repairs them the most by far out of all the brands. I've personally used a Vizio 43" for about a year and a half and never had any issues, but I'm curious to know if his claim is substantiated.

It may be because Vizio saturated the market in some areas so there are more Vizio TVs than other brands quantity wise. He might repair them the most because there are more out there overall. The statistic you are looking for is "failure rate".

I guess *maybe* that is possible scenario on a market-by-market basis, but Vizio isn't even #2 anymore (TCL). Samsung outsells Vizio by a pretty significant margin overall.

That's very true. Not only by revenue but if looking at shipments per year, Samsung outranks Vizio by about 7:1. If anyone is curious:

Yes, they're on sale in-store along with the 65" version

Edit: fysa, there was an email this morning showing those in store only prices, there were 6 55" and 4 65" when I looked this morning.

2018 P series is def not cheaper. It was most recently $1,099 Here: https://slickdeals.net/f/11755771-vizio-p-series-4k-hdr-smart-tv-55-p55-f1-750-or-65-p65-f1-1100-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

While the P series certainly has the edge in local dimming with a lot of zones in FALD, the Samsung still has a few advantages in other areas:
- Upscaling 480p/720p/1080i content...Vizio is notoriously the worst of all the sets out there, even in their P series line upscaling lower res content.
- Freesync support on the NU8000, if you're a gamer with a xbox one x or pc with AMD graphics

I would say the Vizio is definitely the better overall set, but the Samsung has a clear edge in those 2 aspects for those kinds of content and/or heavy users to sway them the way of the NU8000 over the P series. I would also mention reliability as Vizio has really had seemingly more quality control issues than Samsung in recent years. There have been some haunting problems for Vizio sets, P series very much included, the last few years, like random shut offs, and visible lines.

I just got in on the 75" Samsung deal. I'll ship you a UN65MU7000 for way less than $999.....

This is about the max you should be paying for this. The X900F is a way better TV, as is the Vizio.

Here's the folly in your argument: you try to highlight two points that are so absurdly minor that they're almost not worth mentioning, yet you either ignore or downplay points that are huge and where the Vizio is far, FAR superior. If you're going to try to do a comparison, do it properly.
