LOFT Portable Battery Base for Google Home $31.82 + F/S @ Ninety7

Lowest ever for this item. It is currently on sale from the website for $39.99 but I dont think they remember that the CNET promo code still works which brings this down to $31.82 with tax for me and F/S. It works on all 3 colors options and if you buy more than one the code applies for all items. I purchased the carbon and copper cause I was not sure which I liked better.

Promocode = CNETLOFT

Surprised by the lack of love this is getting right now, figured a ton of people have google homes so to have a custom battery pack to keep it up and running for 8 hours and make it portable would be a no brainier.

This has excellent reviews on amazon.

I own two of these. It's an OK product. Battery is way too small. only thing I do with it now is unplug it from my bedroom and move it to the bathroom during showers. GH doesn't last thru the night, not even close to 8 hours. The second one I purchased used to go on and off when you put the GH down at a reasonable speed on the table, but that problem went away, I question the quality. Also, the sound quality on GH is terrible, so I"ll soon stop moving it from the bedroom to the bathroom to listen to music once my other 1000 projects are over and I can get some proper music in my bedroom.

$32 sounds expensive just to make it portable. Can you use a power bank to make it portable?

Yes you can but than you are carrying around one extra item, this is integrated into the original product so its no extra bulk. Not to mention this is always connected so dont have to worry about it losing power if you depend on it for an alarm clock.

This is slightly better than echo in sound quality and that is still pretty decent. If you are a true audiophile yeah none of these will sound great to you. You would want your own setup hooked into this or a google max and the price tag to go along with it if your really picky about sound.

I looked at reviews of battery life on amazon and almost all of them listed 8+ hours so maybe yours is still defective after the second swap or your not fully charging the battery before every use?

I did see others mention that jiggle issue where it would go off and on from at least one other reviewer so I will put that to the test when I get it too.

So I just got my two in the mail and I put the black grill on first. The device itself is very well made and they did not cut any corners even has the magnetic connection between the new base and the google home itself like its original base. I tried putting it down multiple times and I dont see a jitter issue. I know how someone can possibly create it, if you grab the google home by the top instead of the bottom of the base or the grill you can force it to pull the barrel connector which would cause that which I think the reviews people had were doing that. The resistance to prevent the disconnect is only the barrel connector and the magnets. The only other way you could be having issues with it while being moved is if the barrel connector on the battery is damaged where it does not make a solid flush connection.

Have not had a chance to test battery life but will probably do that this next week and just have it play music straight to see what happens.

I will give the base one thing, it really made the GH a lot more prominent and taller lol. It looks like a GH bigger brother in size and stature right now with this addon.
